Obviously love Levi. I accept all non problematic ships with him. Love Levi x OC and self-shippers. 💕 Adult. MDNI please. Straw page is a void.

@DexBonkAllstar @oubagaku You completely misunderstood what I said. Yakuwarigo is not every day speech. It's storytelling specifically. Why are you bringing up IRL speech when that's not the topic?
English

@LeviAckermanDS @oubagaku It’s easy to happen across the common big three pronouns and assume they must have some big implications! But they really don’t. They really are mostly stylistic and are not deep indicators of personality or individuality at all. They are shared by millions of other speakers lol.
English

@luffy18452 FFS. He doesn't even say "bitch" here. I think I know what part of the fandom you're talking about. They always make Levi's speech derogatory towards their not preferred characters.
English

@LeviAckermanDS The translation is being spread by some haters who are trying to mischaracterize Levi as an abuser and trying to show that he insulted Hange.
Even after telling them about their mistakes, they still spread it.
English

Firstly, don’t spread mistranslations. Try to understand the context of the scene and Levi’s character properly. Oh sorry, I forgot you’re uneducated.

@luffy18452 Where did this even come from? It's not the official English translation.
"Quiet, you damn four-eyes. If you want to become Titan shit, I won't stop you. But don't expose subordinates to danger."
English

@DexBonkAllstar @oubagaku They are talking about yakuwarigo, which does not exist in English because we don't use different pronouns or particles when the character is speaking.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakuwarigo
English

@oubagaku I think a better question to ask would be why you didn’t pick up on individuation while reading in English even though it’s absolutely there?
What was it that made it hard to access? The language itself or the author’s choices? It can’t be the former, that wouldn’t make sense.
English

@rainy_zhou @MrsAckermanxxx May I post this with credits to a fan discord server, please?
English

Is this true 😵💫 can anyone confirm 😖

@bog_rat69 This misinformation seems to come from the Eruri shipping wiki. The drawing at the bottom is Levi, not Erwin. You can check the FLY artbook replica pages for reference. Yams traces sketches from the back using light. I’d appreciate it if they weren’t shared as confirmed canon.

@conviviality104 Perfect! That was a very insightful read. Thank you very much! My question on 役割 and 丁寧語 is because I think English speakers mistake Levi's use of casual language instead of formal means he's lower class. 役割 isn't hard to understand, we just don't have something like it.
English

1. Here are some thoughts on Levi’s speech style—from three angles: role language, the trickster, and sarcasm🧵 In Japanese manga, role language is a tool where how a character talks reflects their individuality or background, helping readers instantly grasp who they are.
日本語

@conviviality104 May I ask what 役割 Levi is?
In story telling, does 役割 replace 丁寧語? Forgive me if the terms are wrong.
English

@conviviality104 That's cool to know. Levi, in English, you wouldn't be able to place where he's from other than is not regional, rural, or part of specific group. Nor can you tell education level or age.
English

@conviviality104 Levi speaks typical American accent. No region or dialect. In No Regrets, he's more hostile, is more offensive, and has a shorter temper. If no one told you he was related to Kenny, no one would know. The use of the word "brat" is a hint. Brat isn't regional, though.
English

@conviviality104 I asked my German friend about Kenny in German. It's simple language which can suggest being uneducated. They called it "gutter language." Kenny uses impolite, insulting words.
It's not regional. More like street language that someone grew up in.
English

@conviviality104 It's a rural accent. Blue collar. Country type. Rugged.
English

@conviviality104 This is a regional accent. Southern. The words alone don't tell you exactly where, but Kenny in the English dub is given an accent most associated with cowboys/gunslingers in media. However, it's not a hard rule, as any profession from that region would sound the same.
English

Hold on!! did they really make it into a figure??? It’s stunninggg.. (I really hope it’s not ai)..
