1/2 Maslow's Hierarchy 🔺 states that people feel fulfilled when they grow 🌱. And as a manager, your team can't grow if you don't manage them effectively. Set career goals, monitor progress, and provide targeted feedback to keep your team engaged and motivated.

@jasonlk A product leader is going into renewal discussions, and I told her not to sign anything that's more than a 1 year deal. Last thing you want to do is to get stuck with 2021-era software in 2029.

These GRR numbers are less impressive when you realize ServiceNow + Workday contracts both default to 3 year terms on initial contracts And Workday proposes 5+ years on renewals (!) Long dated contract terms can hide a lot of decay. And encourage a lot of status quo-ism. Even ServiceNow has even reported they are finally getting pressure here to do more 1 year deals.

Workday is arguably the most important and least loved product in enterprise software. More than 10,000 organizations run it, tens of millions of employees live inside it, it's approaching $10 billion in annual revenue, and it's incredibly sticky. HCM is the last large enterprise software category without a serious AI-native challenger, and that’s about to change. @joeschmidtiv on Workday's last workday: a16z.news/p/workdays-las…

Ninety percent of Facebook Groups members never post — and measuring time spent hides it. Most product leaders optimize for session length anyway. But a member scrolling silently for 20 minutes looks identical to one who sparks a 40-comment thread.

Most product leaders go straight there anyway. But gift buyers don't fail at the results. They fail at the search bar. They know the person, the occasion, the budget. They just can't turn "my mom loves gardening" into a keyword. Better filters don't fix a translation problem.

Etsy's discovery problem isn't a search problem. 30–40% of high-intent gift sessions end in abandonment, and fixing the results page won't touch it.

One metric breaks that pattern: it only goes up when you catch more scams and stop wrongly flagging legitimate users. Inflate one side and the other pulls the score back down.

Most metrics for Meta's anti-scamming product can be gamed. Flag more content and detection volume looks great, but accuracy stays flat. Polish the warning UX and satisfaction scores climb, but real threats keep slipping through.

YouTube Shorts view time is up. Uploads are down. The obvious read: creator burnout. The real read: Shorts is losing a bidding war against brand deals, live events, and TikTok bonuses for the same creator hours.

"What's the North Star Metric for Facebook Events?" has no obvious answer—and that's the trap. Most product leaders want to optimize event supply, user demand, and ticket revenue simultaneously.
