How are you 21 and only know one person with a credit card? 😭 Do you just not hang around adults or like what? Everyone I know who is older than 25 has one, not counting the fossils who still use a chequebook and cash.

I don't think the Americans on here realise quite how broke the average Brit is. Also it seems that Americans are very quick to assume that people just *have* credit cards? I know a total of one person to ever have a credit card.

@BillJones2021 @andrew_lilico Oh we’re back to “Truss crashed the economy” and other fairy tales. The energy package was utterly lunatic but was supported by all those who then condemned it. She was right that spending is out of control and taxes are too high. That pretty basic stuff matters.

@Lewisdpi @NommeDeTwit @meadwaj @owen9305 the capitalist class after which the capitalism system is named of course, it is their system and they imposed it by force and it serves them by taking the labor of everybody else and giving them much of the value of our labor while we just get a wage to barely survive.

Nationalise Morrisons, use it as the foundation for a new, publicly-owned grocery store selling high quality, affordable food. National-level version of the Mamdani plan in New York. Need to think big in a world with repeated, major shocks to essential supply systems.

@Lewisdpi @NommeDeTwit @meadwaj @owen9305 basically doing productive things and making goods and services of value to trade with and be part of an economy without the parasite class living on our labor like they do in capitalism, so I mean an economy without a parasite class.

@Lewisdpi @NommeDeTwit @meadwaj @owen9305 normal human economic activity prevents this and has lower poverty and in fact very frequently human societies have had no poverty at all because it's really not rocket science to have a baseline that is not desperation for basic needs.

@NommeDeTwit @meadwaj @owen9305 People are homeless and people struggle to afford good food even though it's abundant, that's the beauty of capitalism.

A food price caps is so deranged an idea, its hard to articulate how stupid it is without getting angry. Supermarkets operate on margins so thin they'd be considered unprofitable for almost any other sector. They cater to every price point, dietary need and preference imaginable

@emmamrevell "on margins so thin" What are you talking about? Tesco made £3,000,000,000 profit last year. That's before you add in how much the benefit system props up their business model.
