Next Tuesday evening we will discuss the fascinating historical figure that is Ida B. Wells. Wells committed herself to the needs of those who didn't have power. In the eyes of the FBI, this made her a “dangerous negro agitator.” In the annals of history, it makes her an icon. ✨

This month we will be hosting our 6th Annual Conservation Evening! 🌟 Join us to support the conservation of several special items from our collection, each telling a unique story. Tickets available at our events page!

This year's Tavern Night experience takes you on a journey to an 18th century Irish pub. Grab your beer from the historic bar, mingle with costumed reenactors, play games, listen to live Irish music, and sample delicious whiskey from @grandten Distilling.

1, Centuries of Service: Lexington's monument to those who fought for freedom in World War II overlooks the Society's Buckman Tavern, where those who fought for liberty in 1775 gathered the night of April 18th.

Join Judith Sumner from 2 - 3 at Cary Library⁠ in collaboration with Herb Fest and Cary Library! This lecture will present a history of plant uses as foods, medicines, tonics and bitters, dyes, household herbs, and diverse other uses in colonial and 19th-century American homes.

Not every town the size of Lexington has a post office decorated with stamps celebrating the community, but ours does. Take a look next time you're in the Mass Ave post office. The display was assembled by Paul Dougherty, a contributor to the imagery of our collections & houses.
