@BenRabidoux Fascinating numbers, thanks! Will be really interesting to see if there's an acceleration in decline as the May, then the September numbers roll in, when many of the so-called 'students' fly back. This is still small potatoes though. Need to get back to 2022 #'s.

Update to that Brampton transit ridership data I posted. Here's the latest. Trudeau fked the immigration system, but you have to be an ideological idiot to believe it's STILL happening. Govt has work to do to restore credibility, but things are moving in the right direction

@rocknrollofall Lot of joke replies, but, in all seriousness: nobody knows 100% but very high odds that yes, she's alive. She lives very low profile & offline, evidently, consistent to her teen style. But there's scattered, repeat mentions of her being a River Tour Guide & none of her death.

Some of these 'nations' are like 600 people. Some of them are less. And really, it's just their band councils. The ones growing fat off their established relationship with Ottawa. You're twisting yourself into pretzels trying to make this make sense or justify it morally. The craziest part is: natives in Alberta want to separate significantly MORE than any other race group in Alberta...and by like a good 15%! They poll like 44-45% on 'Yes' for the referendum!

@Beezer2000 @LexsWorld @ToewsWenda Hahaha Since you want to form your own country, then you are going to need to negotiate with other countries for many things. Start with the First Nations. Just saying you can't , doesn't mean you get to sidestep the constitution

Danielle Smith clearly does not represent the interests of the majority of Albertans. Smith is aware that only about 15–16% of Albertans are committed to independence regardless of the economic costs. Yet she insists on having a referendum question on separation. That’s 16% of Albertans wanting to force 84% of Albertans into a provincial separation that they don’t want. Yet Smith is strongly motivated to represent Separatists. With Danielle Smith’s consistent dishonesty, with the help that she received from David Parker to become the leader of the UCP, with her desire to not respect judicial decisions and with not expressing any negative vocalization about having party members that openly support separatist ideology, it is very difficult to believe that Smith would honestly share the results of a referendum. Nor is it believable that she would respect the results of this referendum. It’s time for Albertans to stand against Danielle Smith and against the UCP.

The only country that can be credibly accused of having our MPs in their pockets is China. And it's pretty evident in the case of at least one of them. The rest is conjecture. Other countries haven't even bothered. We're just irrelevant. We're not even G7 anymore, really. Even G12 is pushing reality.

A new report has confirmed Alberta is now the epicentre of disinformation in Canada, driven by direct foreign interference from US & Russia 29% of Albertans now rank as "highly disinformed" nearly DOUBLE the national average. No other province even comes close #cdnpoli #abpoli

@CTVNews It's genuinely stunning how much legacy media in 🇨🇦 carries water for the gov. Even the odd time they pick the right story to write about, they can't help themselves; they describe the alarming & dystopian proposals in C-22 as "lawful access". We're in trouble as a nation, guys.

@HoCStaffer Online censorship, digital surveillance, overreach, digital ID, encryption backdoors and so forth are the #1 threat to watch out for with this current federal government. Such things make them wet. They can't even help it.

It has taken serious statements by major tech companies (🇨🇦 & non) that they will 1) shut down ops, 2) stop selling here, or 3) move HQ to get many people to even notice C-22. Great that more are now aware; but it shouldn't come to that for people to realize the risks. Liberals are truly in dangerous territory here.
Josh Dehaas@JoshDehaas

Canadians are waking up to C-22's risks. Two main problems: 1. Could allow for backdoors into encrypted services (eg: Signal) 2. Could require telecoms to collect up to 1 year of location data on all of us Read more: theccf.ca/bill-c-22-expl… Sign here: theccf.ca/stop-governmen…

@mileslunn @TheJasonJBailey Alberta independence is polling better with "first nations" than any other race in AB. By a big margin, btw. The people who won the dubious ruling are a couple of crooked band councils. As usual, screwing their own people out of what they want. Do not confuse the two.

It always annoys me how JJ frames this like it's natural that Quebecers are bilingual and it isn't for anyone else. No JJ, I had to learn English too. I earned the right to go into these few jobs reserved for bilingual people. So can anyone else. Just learn ffs.

Has official bilingualism failed Canada? 🇨🇦 Who is official bilingualism really for? 🤔 @JJ_McCullough makes his (spicy) argument! This is VANCOLOUR @CHEK_News 📺

Man, I’m really worried about consumers. Not everyone’s tech savvy enough to know this ad is completely AI, and they’re not actually showing the product they’re selling. AI ads are going to really take advantage of people.

Danielle Smith calling the court decision undemocratic when she used the notwithstanding clause to quash Albertans' rights is pretty rich, but totally on par with her arrogant, self-righteous attitude.

@CreesonAPTN Only 5% of Canadians are Indigenous. Why does CBC even have an Indiginous News Team? Do you have a Chinese News Team (4.7% of population) or a South Asian News Team (7.1%)

Look; I got my beefs with @signalapp and Signal app management - I still can't believe they dropped SMS support - the app has been dying ever since... BUT! It is separately unacceptable that the feds under @MarkJCarney would create a legal environment where it's so surveillance-state that Signal can't OPERATE here. That means fundamental privacy can't operate here.

Signal is now warning that it could exit Canada over Bill C-22. The government has called Signal, Apple, Meta, US Congress, and cybersecurity experts all wrong. But this isn't a bluff. Canadians will lose access to secure services if the bill passes as is. michaelgeist.ca/2026/05/bill-c…

I just can't imagine to be this excited to find out that some crooked band councils, which claim they represent 5% of AB's population - less than the count of people who signed the referendum petition - get precedence on something the other 95% of the population INCLUDING THEMSELVES agreed under the laws passed recently by the legislature, was going to go to a vote. The deepest irony here is that Alberta Independence polls better with natives than *any other race in Alberta*...by a lot! You're being screwed sideways as an Albertan & a taxpayer, dude - not even by the natives, just by the band councils, and you're celebrating it.

It's not the law. It's this one judge's interpretation and the interpretation is crap. The law suggests that, if the referendum were to succeed, the bands need to be consulted in the implementation of a process to ensure the details they signed to in their treaties remain honored...but to simply ask Albertans the broad question of independence? No. That's BS. It won't stand & shouldn't stand. And as for Smith, she should put the question out to referendum anyway, by herself, cause she has the authority, if we're talking about the law.
