Muckross lake in Killarney National Park is the deepest lake in Ireland, reaching 75 metres. Beautiful scenery and sights. Not so fan of the sudden (crazy) wind appearing after midnight leaving us with zero sleep lol.

Scoring #Ash #Dieback #disease tolerance in our gene-bank. Observations show a range of resilience: some trees stay healthy; others show dieback symptoms. Notable drought and heat stress in some 🌳. Ongoing research is key to finding tolerant ash 🌳 genotypes. @teagascforestry

Three days sampling cambium from larch trees. 370 samples from different provenances. Here how we did it: silica gel in a falcon tube and a tea bag inside the tube. Samples were drying until we got to the lab and took the sgel out and put the tube in the -20c. #forest #genetics
