EU/UK - US relations 🧵 The U.S has imposed sanctions on former EU diplomats/personnel under the guise that Europe prevents “Free Speech”. In reality, Europe has a free but regulated market, and Europe has acted to prevent certain mega-companies (For example X, owned by Musk) from dominating market share and monopolising - in essence, protecting the free market. But this is bigger than free speech. It is the U.S trying to destabilise Europe and this has being going on since Trump 2.0 began, just look at the lack of support for Ukraine, threats against Greenland, the sidelining of Ursala Von Der Leyen at major talks. Then look at what Trump is actively doing in Europe - through the algorithms of X and Meta - ran by Trump allies. He is pushing the National Rally in 🇫🇷, the AfD in 🇩🇪, and Reform in 🇬🇧 He is actively trying to destabilise Europe to strengthen U.S global dominance. Now, at the moment America is far gone - but that won’t last forever. But something needs to change to rebalance the US/Europe relationship. 🇪🇺 Europe must increase is military spending - we cannot trust or rely on the U.S for security. We also cannot allow Ukraine to collapse. 🇪🇺 Europe must unite. Together Europe is extremely capable of standing up against the U.S, Russia, and China. 🇪🇺 Europe must fight back. Reciprocal sanctions. Further restrict the scale to which U.S companies can grow within European Markets, and reduce restrictions on homegrown business start-ups. 🗣️ Also, when it comes to free speech. Let us never forget that we in Europe (and the UK) do have free speech - inappropriate or unacceptable speech is generally allowed, just not encouraged. That is free speech. In the U.S, visas are denied based on negative comments about politicians. Media outlets are being stripped of the ability to report on military actions, and people lose livelihoods frequently for comments made about right wing figures - when it doesn’t suit the Trump narrative. Long story short. Fuck Trump, Fuck the USA. Long live a strong, united, and free Europe. *Including UK, Turkey etc as part of Europe even whilst not in EU.

The voters deserve what the voters vote for, and for the last decade we’ve continually voted in favour of pro-independence parties. Your next party leader (Wes - Mandelson’s Mate - Streeting) wanted to privatise aspects of the NHS so don’t lecture anyone on supporting the NHS

The public don’t particularly care about political ideology. They want someone who can be seen as a fighter; who stands up for them. It’s tragic because the party with fighting policies is the SNP, but the messaging is so so poor.
