It's frankly appalling that the Labour Assembly Member for Merton and Wandsworth wasn't even aware that both Merton's police front counters were closing two days after this meeting. Merton deserves far better representation from @LeonieC

At 3pm today Wimbledon police station’s front counter closes to the public. Mitcham’s is already closed. @PaulKohlerSW19 handed in a petition of nearly 4000 signatures yesterday from concerned Merton residents. Back your local Lib Dem team this May for a fresh start for Merton.

@PaulKohlerSW19 There was always people at Wimbledon Police counter whenever we went there for a ward panel meeting. Maybe we were just lucky to always show up at the same time as the two people visiting that day?

I asked the Met Police Commissioner why police front counters aren’t viewed as central to neighbourhood policing, and whether he’s discussed sharing premises with Merton Council to keep officers visible & accessible in the community.

@campbellclaret If it was obviously a Reform leaflet they'd probably be OK, but because it was written to appear to be from a resident it appears to be deliberate deception which is likely to be taken more seriously.

Looks like Reform have made a very big mistake, so big that if they were to win the by-election the result might subsequently be overturned in an election court. And there are very serious repercussions for the candidate and election agent if that were to happen.

Some of our team out in Abbey today listening to resident's concerns. Clearly a lot of optimism for a new, energetic LibDem Council in May.
