Adrian Crompton, Auditor General for Wales, is leaving after 8 years. His evidence to the Public Accounts Committee this week is well worth watching. Lots of honest stuff on how our government machinery is struggling. > Wales's public sector architecture is excessively complicated and resembles a spider's web. > The result is perception of an unaccountable and incomprehensible system that wastes time and money. > Only Welsh Government can tackle this and it will take political will. > Without reform public services are unsustainable. Maintenance, infrastructure and professional expertise have all suffered in order to keep things running. > We have expertise shortages in key areas - including local authority planning capacity.
