Be sad news to lose Poundstretcher - one of the original discount stores, long before shopping at such stores was fashionable (which may be part of the problem!) Liked that they always had different stuff, etc. although always feels like they never had any real business plan!

@CameronYardeJnr The ending made it worse - its everything people feared RTD2 era would be, and probably puts off potential streaming partners. Worse - there's no "current" Doctor, which makes merchandising a nightmare. Even post 1989 and 1996 there was a Doctor for novels, comic books, etc.

I have no idea how accurate this is but there wouldn't have been need for a special to tie up loose ends had it just finished with an open-ended regeneration. Get the new team and funding ready. The new team should pick the next Doctor and be free of the nonsense ending.

@DKnight9630 Enjoyed all three runs in this picure - for me Heroes Reborn is definitely filed under "not as bad as a lot of people say it is" (and did its job of increasing sales and renewing interest)!

Starting tomorrow, I'll be doing another Making the Grade. This time it'll be the mainline Avengers book from the 90s which had a lot of ups and downs creatively through out the decade. We'll see which years were the best and which were the worst.

@comics_jeff They did briefly get rid of him in the 90s, when they pulled a Cable and replaced him with his adult future self through some time travel bullshit. They eventually brought him back as part of a big nostalgia play right before the FF was cancelled.

If Franklin Richards was born in the 70's, 80's or 90's by any writer other than Jack Kirby and Stan Lee, Marvel would've already got rid of him

@Tales_TimeLord @TheRiddler_Lord Current events may also mean a tweak or edit is appropriate. Most notable one is the Robin Hood episode in Capaldi era, edited a day or two before. And probably many others we don't know about.

@TheRiddler_Lord These days SO much happens in the edit. Not just VFX They have hundreds of takes and have to choose the right one. If a scene overruns, it needs fixing. Or a reference to a future plot is missed out and needs adding back Music, dubbing, sound effects

I think we forget how CLOSE Doctor Who gets made Steven Moffat joked that they don't get delivered to the BBC as a shrink wrapped DVD. In fact, they are making the finale AS episode 1 airs Chibnall stated edits of series 12 and Flux happened even the WEEK said-episode aired

@WhoPotterVian @KitKatisWeird7 Brief clip of Piper (perhaps reusing footage from last year's finale), a big blast of regeneration energy, then Davison appears - quick line about Bad Wolf making 5th appear as if he never regenerated. At end regenerates into final form, with who he regenerates into unseen!

@KitKatisWeird7 A part of me would be kind of curious to see how they would do it with a Doctor who looks noticeably older like Peter Davison without the time differential excuse. Would they use RTD’s bigeneration theory from The Giggle commentary that states every Doctor bigenerated #DoctorWho

This is nonsense but unironically I think this special being entirely unconnected to the future of the show and just starring an old Doctor would probably be the best move. Then pick up at an undisclosed point in the Doctor’s future and just write a normal show.

@Uniquely_David @thomo19 Guess it depends on future of show. Wonder if they'll have a temporary one episode Doctor. If BBC get a new streaming partner, the streaming partner would probably want the Doctor of their era to exclusively appear/debut in their episodes.

@thomo19 We never knew who was playing the Doctor anyway Perhaps they'll do something similar to the Colin to Sylvester regeneration & just have them in a wig, already on the TARDIS floor mid-regeneration

So if the rumour is true that Billie Piper and David Tennant aren't in the Christmas special then who's playing the Doctor? #DoctorWho
