This baby elephant fell into a septic tank near a safari lodge outside Tsavo East National Park in Kenya. She was stuck in the water, too small to climb out, struggling just to keep her head above the surface. The rescue was led by Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, a Kenyan wildlife organisation that rescues and raises orphaned elephants, working with Kenya Wildlife Service, the government agency that protects the country’s wildlife. They got ropes around her tiny body and pulled her out. She’s now called Zuri, and she’s safe.
