Hi everyone! We’re excited to share a video from Amalie, a first-year trainee in the Patient and Family Partner and Collaborator streams of the LifTING & Sepsis Canada Health Research Training Program.

This year, we’re offering two training streams for Patient and Family Partners! -A 2-year program with training, mentorship, and a funded research practicum -A NEW 1-year accelerated foundational program to build core research knowledge and engagement skills in a flexible format

#SepsisSurviror Shannon McKenney’s journey is remarkable, from nurse to Juno-nominated singer with Indigenous pop band Indian City, to reconnecting with her Métis heritage. In 2024, she graduated from Sepsis Canada’s Patient & Family Partnership Stream #PatientVoices

🚀 We’re back! Today, we’re reintroducing the team who guide, support, & elevate our research training community. Their leadership fuels our mission and inspires our learners every day. 📸 Meet the team below — and stay tuned for updates, opportunities, and trainee highlights!

She has a strong interest in ensuring good end-of-life care and in providing a nuanced understanding of end-of-life care experiences of clinicians and family members within the contexts of withdrawal from, and withholding of, life-sustaining measures.

The focus of her doctoral research was the development of critical care nursing in Canada over 40+ years. Her current research focuses on the experiences of clinicians, particularly nurses, as they navigate complex situations inherent to the critical care environment.

Our mentor, Professor Brandi Vanderspank-Wright, is an associate professor at the School of Nursing, an affiliate investigator at @OttawaHospital, vice-president of @CACCN1, and former chief editor of the Canadian Journal of Critical Care Nursing. 🧵...
