Came across this and I want to share.
Somewhere in your bloodline, long before your name was ever spoken, an ancestor stood at the edge of death and refused to fall.
It may not be written in the books, there were no cameras, and no one clapped but the earth always remembers because there was a woman who walked home alone at night while danger breathed behind her, there was a man who escaped a war, a famine and a river that should have swallowed him, there was a child who survived sickness while others were buried and there was a grandmother who carried pain in silence and still chose life.
In African spirituality, we know this truth:
Life is not random. A child does not arrive by mistake and a lineage doesn't continue by luck.
Before you were born, the ancestors gathered; they looked at the times, they saw the darkness, they saw the confusion of this generation and they said "send this one". You're not just flesh but you're an answer.
This why your spirit feels old, that is why you carry weight you cannot explain, that is why you survive things that confuses even you, and that is why you feel called to heal, to speak, to question and to stand apart.
You carry unfinished prayers in your bones. You carry victories that were delayed and you carry wisdom that was silenced.
Where the land speaks, and the ancestors listen. We are taught that the living are the legs of the departed.
You walk because they could not.
You speak because they were muted. And you rise because they were pushed down.
You are a testimony of a moment you will never know, a night you did not see, a prayer you did not hear and a tear that fell into the soil and became a door for you. So walk gently, but walk boldly; live consciously; honour the ancestors not by suffering but by becoming whole, because somewhere behind you they are watching and somewhere within you, they are breathing and the earth knows your name!!
One of them, or maybe many of them survived something that was meant to end the bloodline.
That moment, that breath, that single decision to live instead of surrender is the reason you are breathing today.
