This month, employees from The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in National Industries for the Blind’s Realizing America’s Promise Conference, a national gathering focused on advancing employment opportunities for people who are blind.
The week brought together employees, leaders, and partners from across the country for breakout sessions, dynamic speakers, and a celebration honoring the 2025 and 2026 Employees of the Year, including Lighthouse’s own Antonio Rozier.
While in Washington, Lighthouse representatives also visited Capitol Hill, meeting with elected officials from Washington State. The goal was simple: to help lawmakers better understand both the untapped workforce potential of people who are blind and the real-world barriers that still exist in employment, technology, and accessibility.
Throughout the week, participants connected with vendors at the conference expo, attended special events - including a sailing cruise for Employees of the Year - and celebrated accomplishments at the closing banquet and after-party.
The Lighthouse also hosted a special dinner for staff, Employees of the Year, and their guests to recognize their achievements and the impact they make every day.
Events like this remind us that when opportunity, innovation, and advocacy come together, meaningful progress is possible.
