Used to live in Vegas as a child tho and besides M&Ms world and Circus Circus, there wasn't much to do

I dont think ALL cons should be 18/21+
But I do think that cons need more child friendly programming and child safety training for staff, especially bigger cons.
Fandom is getting too big for the homebrew stuff now and its starting to show more and more.

Make all furry conventions +18 or +21 at this point. I can't fathom why minors are allowed (with parental/guardian consent) at big US cons. You can't deny the adult nature of cons and the fandom.

@Rufiopandafox And most venues in Vegas are casinos. BLFC takes place in a casino as well but is all ages.
Theres a con called Camp Fuzzy Paws (idk if its defunct) that dedicated itself to PG/Family oriented programming and activates.
Theres room for both. Its how its handled that matters

@Rufiopandafox Correct me if im wrong, but I heard euro cons are only 18+ because the insurance to have them be all ages is a lot.
LVFC is 21+ because theres very little for minors to do in Vegas in general. Used to live there as a kid.
There are also cons dedicated to parents and children

But this isnt exclusive to furry cons. I remember being the 16/17 year old running around anime and comic cons too. I remember kids getting hurt in those environments too.
All con types could use fine tuning in child safety and child friendly programming

@MsSunnyyy At most cons if youre under 16 you need a chaperone with you. You wont get a badge if your chaperone isnt with you at registration. 16-17 usually needs a parental consent form, (but that doesnt stop random adults from signing off on it).

I feel like people of all ages should be able to attend cons but these events are definitely due for enforcing more family friendly spaces and child safety rules. Like maybe at bigger cons if you're under a certain age you NEED to be with an adult? idk

@thankfullyshort Adult and All Ages cons already co-exist so theres 0 need for all that. Definitely fair to call it victim blaming in this context. It also needlessly punishes responsible parents who chaperone their minors and teens who DO understand convention safety and etiquette

One thing I’ll never understand is the migration away from proper fursuit acting in favour of… standing there to look Cool. The acting is the whole point to me. I’m not roasting to death in a fursuit just for the aura of it all 😭

@DOGSNDONK But no seriously, all my local cons are starting to get very packed, ANE this year was so stressful and crowd crushy there wasn't any space to walk nonetheless play fight or act silly. Theres like 0 social space/play space anymore
