Man muss der Direktion des AKH zustimmen, dass eine Ambulanz für Long Covid (und ME/CFS...) an eine somatische Abteilung gehört. Hoffentlich wird diese Erkenntnis auch den zuständigen Kliniken kommuniziert. derstandard.at/story/30000003…

Gestern hätte @sarah_buckel Geburtstag gehabt. Statt Kuchen, Kerzen und Nachrichten gibt es Leere. Sie wird schmerzlich vermisst – und sie ist nicht vergessen. Und sie ist nicht allein. Samuel aus Österreich ist vorgestern an seinem 22. Geburtstag denselben Weg gegangen. Vanessa aus der Schweiz, Mitte 30, auch. Wie viele noch, erfahren wir gar nicht, denn viele sterben allein, still. Freitod weil es keine Hilfe gab! Ein Muster. Wie viele von uns müssen noch so früh sterben, @bmftr_bund @BMG_Bund ? Wie viele, @DoroBaer , @ninawarken ? Wie viele junge Menschen müssen noch den begleiteten Tod wählen, weil eine „Forschungsdekade“ angekündigt wird – aber keine schnelle, konkrete Handlung folgt? Ich weiß selbst, dass Medikamentenentwicklung Jahre dauert. Aber wenn man nicht wirklich anfängt, werden aus Jahren Jahrzehnte. Und genau da stehen wir: seit über 50 Jahren. Mehr Druck @Karl_Lauterbach ! Es gibt interessante Wirkstoffkandidaten. Es gibt Hypothesen, Biomarker, Ansätze. Was fehlt, ist Tempo. Mut. Priorität. Geld. Verantwortung. @SPRIND Während ihr diskutiert, bereiten die Nächsten gerade ihren Freitod vor. Das sind Kinder. Das sind Eltern. Das sind Menschen, die leben wollten. @alalalalalex @linds_longcovid @docsimsim It works for me quite well. I see it as a counter act to for example the gpcr abs which are mocking with my adrenaline receptors. Yoga nidra eases the symptoms. In mild an moderate even at bell 15-20, but I luckily haven‘t been there for long, started medication early…

@linds_longcovid @alalalalalex @docsimsim Guys are you telling me you never do yoga nidra or any sort of relaxation exercise? You are right, it is not going to adress rhe root cause, but there are definitely helpful tools to calm your nervous system and ease symptoms a bit. Eg the gpcr abs are messing with your nerv sy.

@LillyPanholzer @docsimsim @linds_longcovid I have no issues with practices of nervous system regulation. People use it who aren’t Ill. But what about when it does not help at all? But the illness still progresses.

@LillyPanholzer @linds_longcovid Yes ‘may’ help you cope better with it. But I’ve lost friends 2organ failure due to severe ME & only thing which made a dent in their intolerable symptoms was syringe-driver delivered uber strong pain meds and things like midazolam.

@docsimsim @linds_longcovid Argh. Who said that trauma causes ME symptoms. I didn‘t ME is a horrible and traumatic organic disease. Calming the nervous system helps to handle it. Not trying to calm the nervous system is not helpful

@LillyPanholzer @linds_longcovid Argh. Trauma doesn’t cause ME symptoms. Don’t conflate ppl with psychogenic chronic ill health with sufferere of ME (an organic illness). They’re very different things & conflating them is Y there is so little ME biomedical research whilst young people continue 2die of severe ME

@docsimsim @linds_longcovid I totally agree. I would never tell anybody with me/cfs that calming the nervous system cures the illness. But I would recommemd every new me/cfs patient to learn tools to calm the nervous system.

@LillyPanholzer @linds_longcovid It’s not a cure for ME. No amount of calming the nervous system will cure someone who’s bedbound/has muscle paralysis. Imagine if u tell a cancer sufferer that brain retraining will cure their illness.
