I bought my first paintings by Luis Meque in 1999. The more I saw of his work, the more obsessed I became. I'm now working on a play about his remarkable life and career. He is to painting what Marechera was to writing. A genius. What a privilege to have some part of him.

Look at that. In 1984, at Alfred Beit School, our Grade 7 class (G7M), after Mr. Makwarimba, used seeds, glue and paint to make a GINORMOUS collage of our school crest and moto. It took a whole term! Can you believe it's still there, the only work of art produced by pupils?

@VascoDaGappah Horrific infringement - and how much more data, unbeknownst to us all, is being usurped in the name of AI ….

So I'm one of the authors of 500'000 books whose work was used illegally by Anthropic to train AI. Mad props to Andrea Bartz Charles Graeber and Kirk Wallace Johnson who sued and established the class action. Anthropic has settled for 1.5 billion dollars. theguardian.com/technology/202…

Jono Terry's exhibition "They still owe him a boat" has been extended to January 27, 2026. Don't miss this chance to experience the poignant stories and reflections on the Zambezi Valley and the colonial legacy of Lake Kariba. @JonoTerry #ngz #Inspire #learn #harare

I got this upcycled skirt in Amsterdam last summer. It already had “I love you” printed in many beautiful languages, but my mother tongues were missing. I live in Wales, and Welsh was missing too. So I bought fabric letters in different textures and colours and decided to fix the problem myself. I meant to wear this piece at my solo exhibition opening last October, but life got in the way and I didn’t finish it in time. One of my New Year’s intentions is simple: to give myself space to complete what matters. As a poet and visual artist, I believe life itself is a site of experimentation and clothing is one of the most immediate places to do that. As I transition from a world of suits, stilettos and pearl studs in corporate to full-time artist in comfy garb, I want to be more intentional about how I express myself, and how I quietly rebel against silly societal norms through what I wear. I recently read an interview with the late Charles Mungoshi (1988), where he observed that Zimbabweans “don’t know what love is.” Context matters, but the statement resonates widely. I believe fear and love cannot coexist. When I wear this piece, I am a walking love poem. I am a love poem rebelling against fear and hate, insisting on tenderness as practice. This year, may we not be afraid to say I love you, and more importantly, not be afraid to mean it. And show it. Happy New Year. I love you 🩵

It was WONDERFUL to share aspects of my writing process with fellow writers in Harare yesterday at the @CainePrize Workshop in honour of NoViolet Bulawayo. I loved the insights shared by veteran editor and Caine Prize Chair Ellah Wakatama and by my brilliant little sis NoVi.
