Yet AT2024abc is still shining strongly 18 months later — and shows no signs of stopping soon.Why is the black hole taking so long to finish its dinner?NuSTAR’s observations reveal that the shredded star’s debris isn’t falling in all at once. Instead, the long stream of stellar material is precessing — wobbling like a spinning top — so that only a fraction of it plunges into the black hole at any given time.
