@Juliewho22 I started off a little better. Mom got me outside to potty and back in. This afternoon and tonight it took Mom & Dad to get me out and in and it was a real struggle. We hope tomorrow is better ❤️.

@Joanmcdaniel88 Daisy is a solid 80 lbs. I’m not sure what the dosage is, 2 capsules twice a day, which has now been lowered to one capsule twice per day. She’s moving on her own today, slow but doesn’t need my assistance and has been out to potty, so that’s better than yesterday.

@LinandDaisy Sammy weighs about 55lbs, what dosage did they start Daisy with? He gets 1 a day we give that at dinner time in his wet food.

@Joanmcdaniel88 They kicked in a little too well. Mom says I was “stoned” all day 🤭. When you first started taking Gabapentin did you get loopy? We are cutting the dose in half and it’s a low dose to start.

@LinandDaisy That’s good news that the bacteria is gone. I hope the meds kick in and you can move a little better with no pain. I take gabapentin, rimadyl, cosequin, joint supplement. Seems to help, weather does affect it sometimes. Love you Daisy 🥰

@annier1961 Did it knock Kujo out when he first started taking it? Our vet said sedation can happen but she wasn’t expecting it at this low dose. Should wear off by the morning 🤞and then we are cutting the dose in half.

@LinandDaisy Kojo takes gabapentin among other things for anxiety. He sleeps if nothing’s going on, which is normal at our house. He takes 1600mg twice a day. He’s a big dog. But he can fight it if he gets excited. I used to take 900mg at night for restless legs. Now, I’d go blotto.

@milaandgrandmie Her Metacam has been upped and Gabapentin for pain. She got her fluids and B12 shot as well. She’s been sleeping since we got back. Fingers crossed the pain meds help get her moving more ❤️.

Nestled in the rolling hills of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, lies Dog Mountain, a 150-acre sanctuary dedicated entirely to dogs and the people who love them. Dogs roam leash-free across peaceful trails, but the true heart of the mountain sits at its highest point: the Dog Chapel. Inside, the walls are covered in thousands of handwritten notes and photographs, each left by someone remembering a dog they loved. It's a place of solace, where a dog's story continues long after they're gone, and where complete strangers can pause for a moment and remember them too. I've admired it from afar for years, seeing photographs online and in books, always thinking what a beautiful place it must be. For those who don't know, hopefully many of you do, the dog community on X has been my own place of solace for many years. It's where strangers became friends, and where those same strangers carried me through the loss of my beloved Bert with extraordinary kindness, empathy and generosity. Today, that kindness reached across an ocean. A friend in Canada, @LinandDaisy asked if they could take photographs of Bert and Alfie and place them inside the Dog Chapel, so that their stories could become part of that special place. Bert will have been gone six years in just a few weeks. To know that people on the other side of the world, who have never met either Bert or me, still think of him, still remember him, and wanted to honour him in such a meaningful way... I don't really have the words. Sometimes it's easy to forget how much goodness there still is in the world. Today was a beautiful reminder. 🐾❤️ And if you ever find yourself at the Dog Chapel and happen to see my boys among the thousands of memories on those walls, please tell them I still love them, and that I miss them every single day. ❤️ I'm deeply honoured that Bert and Alfie now have their place alongside so many other wonderful dogs who were, and still are, so very loved. #dogsoftwitter
