Middle East
1453: Conquest of Constantinople. Mass slaughter and enslavement of Christian residents.
1894–1896: Hamidian Massacres. approximately 300,000 Christian Armenians killed.
1915–1923: Armenian Genocide. approximately 1.5 million Christian Armenians killed through massacres, death marches, and starvation. Systematic rape and sexual enslavement of Christian Armenian women and girls was widespread and extensively documented by survivors, missionaries, and foreign diplomats.
1914–1920: Assyrian Genocide. Hundreds of thousands of Christian Assyrians killed in massacres and deportations, with documented cases of rape and sexual violence against Christian Assyrian women.
1913–1923: Greek Genocide. approximately 1 million Christian Greeks killed in massacres, deportations, and rapes, including the burning of Smyrna in 1922. Mass rape of Christian Greek women and girls was systematically reported during deportations and village attacks.
1915–1918: Mount Lebanon Famine. Hundreds of thousands of Christian Lebanese, mostly Maronites, died from starvation and siege due to Ottoman policies and army food requisitions.
Balkans
1822: Chios Massacre. 25,000-50,000 Christian Greeks killed, tens of thousands enslaved. Widespread rape of Christian Greek women and girls was documented by contemporary accounts.
1876: Bulgarian Horrors. Over 15,000 Christian Bulgarians massacred while suppressing the uprising. Mass rape of Christian Bulgarian women by Ottoman irregular forces was widely reported and documented in European accounts, including by William Gladstone.
1876–1878: Violence against Serbs. Massacres, village burnings, looting, and rapes of Christian Serbs.
1912–1913: Balkan Wars. Massacres and violence against local Christian populations, including documented cases of rape.
Devshirme (child levy). Hundreds of thousands of Christian boys from Balkan families were kidnapped over several centuries, forcibly converted to Islam, and trained as Janissaries or administrators.
India
11th–12th centuries: Raids by Mahmud of Ghazni. Massacres and temple destructions, with thousands of Hindus killed in each raid. Contemporary chronicles record mass rape of Hindu women during the raids.
1193: Bakhtiyar Khilji. Destruction of Nalanda University and its library. Nine million manuscripts burned over months. Massacre of Buddhist monks and destruction of Vikramashila and Odantapuri.
1398: Timur’s sack of Delhi. 100,000 Hindu prisoners killed plus mass slaughter and looting. The city was destroyed. Persian and contemporary sources document widespread rape of Hindu women during the sack.
13th–18th centuries: Conquests and wars by the Delhi Sultanate and Mughals. Repeated massacres, destruction of thousands of Hindu and Buddhist temples and centers of learning, forced conversions, and enslavement. Chronicles record mass rape of Hindu and Buddhist women during multiple campaigns.
Total in India: Centuries of massacres, conquests, and destruction by Turkish Muslims led to millions killed overall. Some historians estimate tens of millions in total.
Africa
16th–19th centuries: Barbary Slave Trade. Raids, massacres, and enslavement of 1-1.25 million Christian Europeans. Widespread rape and sexual slavery of European Christian women captives in North African harems and households is extensively documented in European survivor accounts and redemption records.
China
1862–1877: Dungan Revolt. Population loss of approximately 20 million from massacres, famine, and plague. Ottoman Turks supported Yaqub Beg with official recognition plus thousands of rifles.
