🚨⚖️ Khamzat Chimaev’s brother Arthur reveals Khamzat’s health was in serious danger during his brutal weight cut, saying his body “shut down” with 1.2 kg left to lose. 😓 Which is why he showed up the latest to the scales at the weigh-ins: “There was an issue with the weight cut: the question was whether to cancel the fight or take the risk. When there was 1.2 kg left, his body shut down. We had to stop for an hour because his health wouldn’t allow us to continue, but then we managed to finish it. Khamzat himself was saying he didn’t know how he would fight in that condition. And in the second round, it became clear that his body hadn’t recovered.” “There was an agreement with the UFC that he would fight Jiri Prochazka. The contract was already prepared, but then they contacted him directly and asked him to fight Sean instead. Chimaev-Strickland wasn't the most entertaining fight, but I ended up really admiring it for how much it answered some pretty big questions about both competitors. It was more interesting via fact finding than raw entertainment.

As a Van backer, I feel bad for Taira. The announcers were trying to defend it, but that’s a bad stoppage in Round 5 of a title fight. Especially considering it might’ve been 2-2. Taira doesn’t want to be protected there. Let him battle until the end
