Academia said it offered even better long-term prospects, as more than 99.9% of professors had started as a PhD student or unpaid intern. 😜 The permanent jobs bit is definitely enticing though!😅

I always find it funny how much @Lingualsponge’s Twitter and mine overlap. I can never surprise her with something I’ve seen on here. How many other science couples out there experience the same thing?

@EgorAnanyev I had something similar where I was reminded that a PhD was only for clever people, i.e. not me, after I asked for a reference letter to apply to one😅

I'm Egor, I'll never survive in academia :) (first grad supervisor -- I switched labs immediately)

If you move Universities after finishing a project but before submitting the paper, which institutes should you include in the affiliation section?

I don't even understand? How can you organise anything without folders? No search function could ever sort through my 100k photos all named like DSC001, DSC002 without folders... Am I just really old now? 😅

@ZJAyres I didn't publish during the PhD and currently perishing away at my 2nd postdoc already😉. Published 1 PhD paper in my 1st postdoc & now trying to finalize the 2nd paper in the 2nd postdoc. It's been kind of similar for others in the PhD lab.

Probably due to being an introvert, I was never that good at the networking in-person part anyway😆But I can understand it's sometimes useful to have an in-person gathering. I just hope hybrid formats can become a thing for maximum inclusivity & reach! 5/5

Best of all, the entire thing was free!🤩 I would've been happy to pay a small amount from my own money, but it was great that financial barriers were reduced for others. 4/5

I feel like there has been a lot of hate for virtual conferences recently, so I want to say I really enjoyed @ecvp2021. The talks were recorded and available afterwards.👍 Slack channels for discussion and posters were good, I quite like the asynchronous format.👍 1/5
