AI in Applied Linguistics feels like a double-edged sword - both promise and peril. Is it algorithmic colonialingualism, or something else entirely? Grateful to be part of this conversation. doi.org/10.1075/aral.2… @CurtinEducation

Only last week did I submit a case study quoting this shameful statistic. I wrote about discursive tactics of resistance employed by Polish LGBT academics. It'll appear in a book on social justice and linguistics by @HelenSauntson and @CCunninghamyork

So glad to see and actually touch our @TonyMcEnery @perezparedes chapter in @routledgebooks "Multidisciplinary Approaches to the Discourses of Extremism", edited by Katie Patterson & Encarnación Hidalgo-Tenorio @hidalgo_tenorio . In this chapter we use #corpuslinguistics methods to understand the (self) representation strategies of Muslims in violent propaganda magazines. We explore how the main topics in these magazines are constructed linguistically to self‑represent themselves and represent Muslims worldwide.
