About 20 Years ago, Irene Ndibo returned to Kenya from US, where she was a high profile Vice President in Goldman Sachs. She came to be a founder executive of Renaissance Capital. She wanted a lawyer to advise her & Caroline Mutoko referred her to me. Irene was the cleverest girl I ever met. She was a woman ahead of her time. But Kenya as always ready wasn’t ready for highly prodigious people like her. Irene understood private equity more than anyone in Kenya. Yet we didn’t use her. Irene was let down by her country.
