@kellyrudyk @sytsema_andy Frankly she is free to cut loose with her cronies. That doesn’t concern me as much as actual decisions made under her leadership & in her official capacity as Premier.

@TheBreakdownAB I have an idea….Those who want to separate, find unoccupied land somewhere to plant a separatist flag for a separate country & live happily ever after. Those of us who want to con’t as a province of Canada can move forward building a better & stronger AB within Canada.

Danielle Smith said today that she believes that citizen initiated referendum should be able to be asked on any topic at all. This is unbelievably dangerous for obvious reasons. Canada has hate speech laws for a reason. /1 #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

@ABDanielleSmith I’m glad DS is proud of the legislation passed. Too bad it doesn’t contain much in terms of what provincial gov’t should be focused on. It’s more of a “big brother” approach to leadership.

I am proud of the 17 new pieces of legislation our government passed this session, including: ✅ Removing politics from the classroom ✅ Protecting children from explicit sexual materials ✅ Expanding preventative medical testing ✅ Creating stronger safeguards to protect vulnerable Albertans from MAID ✅ and more!

@FreeAlbertaRob Anytime a UCP conservative comes out “disappointed” with Mayor Farkas, it tells me the Mayor is doing things right for the city….asking the right questions, researching the needs of the city & planning accordingly. Appeasing the UCP gov’t is not on his agenda.

Disappointed to see Mayor Farkas choose more traffic jammed one lane roads with no street parking for Calgarians. This from someone constantly demanding more provincial dollars for road and other city infrastructure. Methinks he should rethink his priorities.

@JeromyYYC The city can not go wrong with more policing & that means visibility within communities. As long as the budget reflects ongoing support for a station, I’m in favour.

@jkenney It shouldn’t just be Jason Kenney outraged & angry over this data leak. Every member of the UCP party as well as all voters should be as well. We need answers from our gov’t. This is some serious sh*t!!

I understand that my personal information, including my home address, was shared publicly on a screen at a recent Alberta separatist event. It was also recorded on video, and is now circulating. This was apparently part of the outrageous data leak of Albertans’ private information, wherein Elections Alberta shared its entire detailed provincial voter database with the “Republican Party of Alberta,” which in turn shared it with some separatist group called the “Centurion Project,” whose leadership then shared my personal information publicly. Over the past few years I have received no shortage of threats from people broadly associated with the separatist / antivax / far right movement in Alberta. So it is disturbing that my personal information is now broadly available, particularly in those circles. While I have been targeted specifically, the broader data breach may also effect vulnerable Albertans, including victims of domestic violence, journalists, activists, judges, and other public servants for years to come. I will retain legal counsel to seek advice on recourse regarding this outrageous and potentially dangerous violation of my personal privacy.

@RobWardCGY I agree. We all need to learn & live water conservation. Water is a natural resource that is necessary to sustain life. While it seems limitless, the city & residents experienced a little what can happen if it’s not readily available.

Today I voted against Calgary’s proposed Water Efficiency Plan. Let me be clear: I support responsible water use, protecting our rivers, and investing in long-term infrastructure resilience. But I could not support a plan that asks residents to permanently change their behaviour before City Hall fully addresses its own system failures. Right now, Calgary is losing approximately 115 million litres of treated water every single day through leaks in the system — roughly 42 billion litres per year. Based on the City’s own residential consumption figures, that is equivalent to the annual water use of more than 260,000 Calgary households. Fixing leaks and aging infrastructure must be the top priority. The City’s own advisory group acknowledged that Calgary’s water system remains in a precarious position until critical feedermain upgrades are completed, and that leak detection, repair, monitoring, and preventative upgrades need to be prioritized. I also remain concerned about:
• vague timelines and unclear performance targets for reducing water loss,
• a history of approved infrastructure projects being delayed or rolled forward year after year,
• the fairness and practicality of proposed tiered water rates,
• and the possibility that permanent restrictions on residents become normalized while the City continues to struggle with core infrastructure delivery. Calgarians stepped up during the water main crisis. People conserved water when it truly mattered, and I believe voluntary conservation during emergencies makes sense. But permanent behavioural restrictions and additional costs on residents should not come before measurable accountability from the City on fixing the infrastructure it already owns. My position is simple:
Get the basics right first.
Fix the leaks.
Repair and replace aging infrastructure.
Improve accountability and transparency.
Then evaluate what additional measures are truly necessary. That is why I voted no today.

@calgaryherald I’m going to say this is mainly for show. This time food costs are not the fault of grocers merely taking advantage of supply/demand. Rather it’s the state of the economy from Trump tariffs, to oil/gas prices due to world events (aka Iran war) etc.

As a proud alumnus of the U of C, I was so happy to celebrate its 60th anniversary alongside my bandmates in the Heebee-jeebees. But the most exciting moment for me was seeing Dexter, the old mascot. Fun fact: I used to be Dexter at football games sometimes, and I’ve had it confirmed that this is the same 40-year-old costume I used to wear! I also found my 1992 orientation leader T-shirt. It was so great to meet both recent and past Olympians!

@CraigBaird TY for posting. What an amazing woman. Sad she had to choose between her work & her personal life. Thankfully she got some credit at the time for her work but obviously not enough. We all need to learn more from our history & the amazing people/women who are a large part of it.

@AdamMacVicar I don’t put much value in polls. The numbers in this poll don’t reflect the city makeup. 1150 polled in a city of over a million is like 0.01%. I go more with what the mayor’s decision making ability has shown & his future planning. So far I approve!!

@DanWMcLean I’m not a bike user but I believe the city needs to continue to plan for the future. Some of the issues the city faces today is because future planning wasn’t a priority. Bike use may con’t to rise esp if oil/gas or vehicle costs con’t to rise. Balanced planning is needed.

@calgaryherald I don’t get the benefit of floor crossing for the MP themselves. Voting is pretty much done by party lines. That’s why an MP is elected…for the party itself. Wouldn’t an MP be better to sit as an independent instead? At least give constituents a chance to be heard & understand?

@BkennedyBarbara @4alberta4canada Your comment indicates u aren’t interested in a response but rather it’s an attempt to put down those who disagree with separatists POV. Perhaps u can explain why u believe your rights to separate take precedent over others who want AB to continue to be a part of Canada.

Certain amount of hypocrisy here⬇️. Seems that dippers think that voting to get out of a dysfunctional relationship with the head office is OK, but when Alberta wants to vote to get out of a dysfunctional relationship dippers object. Perhaps the dippers can explain to Albertans exactly why they should stay in a dysfunctional country/relationship.
