What caught my attention in Retium's whitepaper isn't the throughput claims. It's the architecture. Most blockchains are fundamentally sequential systems transactions compete for space in a shared queue, and validators compete over ordering. @RetiumChain proposes something different: a role-specialized mesh where transactions are routed and processed in parallel rather than funneled through a single path. The design draws inspiration from distributed systems like Cassandra, BitTorrent, and IPFS more than from traditional blockchain architectures. That doesn't automatically make it better. But it does make it different. If the model holds under real-world conditions, Retium may be less of a "faster blockchain" and more of a rethink of how Layer 1 networks should be structured in the first place. Definitely one of the more interesting architectural experiments in crypto right now.
