I can’t think of anything that better wraps up Music in our schools month than this email I received from a former student. I was in tears. This is why we do what we do. This is why music is so important.

Our PTO is incredible!!!! Birthday cookies, snacks, donuts, coffee- and they make sure teachers are stocked up in the classroom too. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful PTO at Sherwood!

It’s the kid who says “I wish I had music tomorrow”. It’s the admin who emails you to say a parent sung your praises. It’s the parent who tells you that you’re the reason their kid goes to school. It’s the little moments that keep us going. ❤️

Fun fact: the wonderful Steven Funke and I went to NKU together! We got hired on the same day and now officially work in the same building! Had to take a picture to document it!

Goals for this school year: keep my students safe and make them feel loved. My lessons won’t be perfect. My wall decor really won’t matter. We will keep figuring it out day by day. But loving my kiddos is my first priority.

Went into surgery today to get a bump removed from my vocal cords! I’m doing well, but I can’t talk for 5 days! My wonderful music team brought me a present, and so many coworkers have been checking in! I love the people I work with! My heart is full! #weareFHSD #allinallthetime

Now this is awesome. We have the coolest team of music teachers in this district. I am so fortunate to be in a district that values and supports music making! And I am continually floored by the work of my amazing colleagues- many of whom were MY music teachers. #weareFHSD
