A paltry thing. Books, films, music, telly, often of bygone ages. Ex-Londoner. No advertisements for myself.

@ClarkeMicah @tezflynn1942 The power of mass abstention. You mean a British government being landslide winners with the support of 20.15% of the electorate?

I'm always amazed that #polls are still taken seriously given that whenever the results are tested by a vote, most of them are quite wrong. Still, I suppose they give journalists something to get excited about. #Polling

New neighbours have just started a VERY noisy #BonfireNight party, featuring (it appears) exhibition-standard #fireworks. It's a bit damp, but it turns out that they are proud owners of a marquee.

Quentin Lawrence didn't direct another film until 1962 -- and it was the excellent Cash on Demand, with Peter Cushing and Andre Morell.

Tonight's viewing. From 1945. Contains a great sequence between Allen and Jack Benny (including "This guy wouldn't give you the parsley off his fish").

"A Labour government? Nothing to do with me, guv. Anyone would think I've been promoting the destruction of the Tories for years on end. Pass the washbasin."
Peter Hitchens@ClarkeMicah

The important thing, .@mrsonicadvance would be that Sir Keir Starmer would not be Prime minister. My advice was very simple. Vote against Labour. I had no other aim than the prevention of a Labour govt. Why can’t you grasp this?

.@davidblueback. I think it is a great pity that this country now faces 20 years of hardline, ultra-PC, ultra-Green, Blairite government. At least I can say that I did all I could to warn against this and to urge people not to make it happen. Goodnight adults, everywhere.
