Today I’m thinking about lies teachers are told (outright or inadvertent) about ourselves as teachers, our work, our students, and/or education as a whole. What lies are you told that impact you as a teacher?

Type the year you turned 10 into the GIF search... This seems accurate.

@susangbarber I’m starting with community. We set up a GroupMe to just chat and be community. In a few days we will do learning. Keep@is posted on what you figure out.

Brainstorming how to lean into virtual learning and not just replicate the classroom online. How can we connect students for collaboration on projects and community? Let's avoid posting a worksheet, taking a grade, and hoping for the best. Thoughts and ideas? Let's get creative!

Practice gratitude in your school this week, and while your circumstances may not change, your outlook will, and I image school culture will also if enough of us do this. Have a great week influencing the next generation! #MondayMotivation

@Soperclassroom @susangbarber I remind my kids that they have been writing since Kindergarten and have been learning Calculus for ten minutes. My class is about refining skills they already have. 😍

@susangbarber I hear this too! I also hear that I'm the "easy" AP class, but I truly believe you can be rigorous and ALSO have fun. :) #aplitchat

A writer is always writing - even when staring into space. A teacher is always teaching - even when sipping coffee.

THIS!!!!! And I'll tweak it to say "If we view our students as people." It's about them as individual persons- not test scores, what we want to teach, or school reputation. They are not a means to our ends - they are the end.

Shout out to all of the teachers knee-deep in end of semester grading who are one more glass of wine away from speeding through the rest of the stack and just giving everyone an A- and a smiley face.

Reading excerpts may prep students for tests, but such practice won't make them readers. Students deserve whole works, real books.

A4: More sophistication & original insight, less summary & diction issues - you know, the ones where as we read, we begin by nodding, but by the end we're practically fist pumping- so excited to see how they've grown/are growing! #aplitchat
