This is an op-ed written by former Canadian PM Jean Chretien in the Globe & Mail. Well worth reading. Maybe 45 needs a Shawinigan handshake from him.

@jmbprime Singh is not the right person and has shown himself this way in too many moments. The search for a new NDP leader should also be undertaken.

Jagmeet Singh‘s response to Justin Trudeau‘s announcement that he is resigning as PM is petty and classless. Instead of acknowledging Justin Trudeau’s service to Canada he chose to politicize the PM’s departure. Not Mr. Singh’s finest moment as leader of the NDP.

@GlasgowBookworm Saw a great take on this: that the person was too old to take on learning and tracking/creating for a whole new app. So go on and save yourselves she’ll be sticking with Goodreads. We fully support that take! 🥰

Under that pile are some of the Classics owned. Want to try and read one Classic a month in 2025 too.

Deciding which book to start 2025 with. ‘A Gentleman in Moscow’ is the last book of Amor Towles I own. I adored the two I read last year so have been saving this 1. I love Liz Moore. So start with ‘The God of the Woods’ ? Claire Lombardo? My first Elif Shafak? Decisions…

The lack of international response to the Taliban’s torture of women and girls is proof that we are still second class citizens both at home and abroad.

@yearsofreading And like you - do not do TikToks or YouTube videos. Just write on a blog and don’t even post on Instagram. Certain our reach isn’t big. We’re just going to read what we want and post whenever. Maybe that’s something to think on…just do what you can. Do what makes you happy.

@yearsofreading We are reading Clare! I do see & enjoy your posts. We gave up some time ago worrying about # of followers, # of likes & don’t post anywhere near what we used to, we don’t have a following anywhere near others, but continue because it’s good when we can. Would be sad w/o you! 🥰

@JanetEmson @rowancoleman What may be considered a trigger for you wouldn’t be a trigger for someone else. No two people read the same book. Read the book’s description and make a decision. Like Janet says, where does it stop?

@rowancoleman I think choice is important and they would definitely be helpful for a lot of people. The trouble is, where would a list of trigger warnings stop? There will be things that are perhaps more obscure so wouldn’t necessarily be thought of as triggering that could be missed etc.
