We see our home planet as a whole, lit up in spectacular blues and browns. A green aurora even lights up the atmosphere. That's us, together, watching as our astronauts make their journey to the Moon.

On Good Friday we reflect on the incredible sacrifice of the cross. For those who loved Jesus , it was a terrible and dark day - they did not know what was to come, that Christ would rise again from the dead. Through this sacrifice came salvation. Through the blood of the cross. "It is finished" was not a cry of defeat, but one of victory. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." JOHN 3:16

Today I met with senior members of the UK Government, Welsh Government, First Minister of Scotland, Secretary of State and high level officials across the UK to discuss the ongoing situation with Iran, the middle east and security and in particular the impact on energy, oil supply and prices and on citizens including in Northern Ireland. I was joined by the Economy Minister. I raised the impact of potential higher prices on people in Northern Ireland - the higher reliance on heating oil, our rurality that means a high reliance on cars and our issues with connectivity across the UK through aviation. We raised and discussed the impact of higher prices on business, fishing and haulage. I will continue to ensure Northern Ireland issues are on the agenda and our issues are raised. There is a commitment to ongoing communication and meetings. I will update in due course.

Air Chief Marshall Harv Smyth and the Harrier Handover! What a fantastic day for the Ulster Aviation Society with the event for the official handover of the Harrier - and to have the Air Chief Marshal Sir Harv Smyth for the occasion! Sir Harv is a Northern Ireland native, and he has achieved such an exceptional level within the RAF, now being the Chief. He is also patron of the Ulster Aviation, and what an honour for him to be back home (flying overnight from the middle east!) for this incredibly special day for the Society. Sir Harv flew the Harrier over 15 years in his career. A hugely sucessful day for Ray, Des and all the incredible team at the Aviation Society at the Maze - topped off by the fly past!! 😲

⚠️🗣Lurgan security alert: ‘It’s grim. It’s 2026, the town doesn’t want this. My thoughts are with the driver.’ 🎥🎤 Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 speaking to @duponline MP @carlalockhart. The PSNI’s specialist terrorism unit is leading the investigation after a delivery driver in the Kilwilkie area of Lurgan was forced at gunpoint to drive his vehicle to the town’s police station. A white Audi remains in the station’s holding area. Around 100 homes were evacuated in the early hours of this morning due to the major security alert. It’s understood residents have been returning to their homes, with roads in the area reopening. The MP says this is not wanted in the community and has called on those responsible to leave the scene.

🚨 NEW: Major security operation at Lurgan Police Station after delivery driver forced to drive car at gunpoint 🎤 Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 reports from the scene. A delivery driver in Lurgan was threatened at gunpoint and forced to drive his car, with an object inside, to the town’s police station, sparking a security alert, Police Service of Northern Ireland Assistant Chief Constable Ryan Henderson has said. @duponline MP @carlalockhart says the situation is deeply concerning and not something anyone wants to see. Around 100 homes have been evacuated, and it’s understood a controlled explosion has taken place. There are numerous road closures in the area. Lurgan Town Hall has been opened for affected residents. A heavy police presence remains in the town. Justice Minister @naomi_long has described it as a “shameful and dangerous attack.” @uuponline Leader @JonBurrowsMLA says it is a clear attack on the Police Service of Northern Ireland and is causing significant disruption. @sinnfeinireland Minister and MLA @JohnODowdSF says: “This has caused massive disruption to local families and businesses. I hope the town can return to normal as quickly as possible. “No one wants to return to such scenes, and we await the outcome of investigations into the vehicle.”

I utterly condemn the overnight hijacking of a vehicle and the placement of a viable device outside Lurgan PSNI. Such actions are deeply disturbing and serve no purpose other than to endanger lives and hold society back. I want to place on record my sincere gratitude for the police officers who responded with speed, professionalism, and courage in dealing with this incident, and thinking too of those threatened in this incident. This incident has also caused significant disruption to local residents, and undoubtedly fear and concern through the night. Thinking of all those resident, employees and others impacted. I would appeal to anyone with information about the incident to bring it to the PSNI immediately.

🚜 Supporting the Launch of the Northern Ireland Ploughing Association International Ploughing Championship 2026! 🚜 It was great to gather at the site of the 2026 NI Ploughing Championship, on land kindly granted by Ronald Coulter, Mrs Pearl Lilley and George and David Megarry, along with the Committee and gathered guests. The Championships will be held on the site at Ballyknock Road, Hillsborough on Friday and Saturday, 25th and 26th September. We were joined by NIPA President David Wallace, Chairman Adrian Jamison and Vice Chairman David Wright along with NIVPA Chairman, Robert Acheson. The local catering team from St John's Church, Royal Hillsborough, will be responsible for providing all the catering at the event this year! (Pictured at the lovely breakfast event at St John's)

This afternoon I stood with the incredible folks and dogs from K9 - as they fundraised for the incredible work they do and many of them there just back from volunteering supporting the community. I am so angry to hear from them about this terrible attack on Ryan and Max. Absolutely disgusting. Those involved should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves, and more than that they need to be caught and prosecuted. Stand with those in our community that represent the best of humanity - volunteering, giving so much. Absolutely disgusting what happened in Bangor.

I'm on my travels this morning for my Saturday Big Breakfast - up to North Antrim with Mervyn Storey and family, at the kind invitation of Milltown Accordion Band - Portglenone as they celebrate their 65th Anniversary! Huge crowd, lovely food and thank you all so much for the warm welcome! 👏👏👏 Many, many congratulations on reaching this milestone of 65 years, I know that could only have through exceptional dedication by so many over those years. The numbers through the doors this morning are an indication of the love and high regard people have for the band!

🚨UPDATE - Summer Schemes 🚨 I welcome the statement just now that the summer schemes will now go ahead Following confirmation from the Dept of Health that the support will be provided Statement from Education Authority "Following further engagement involving the Education Authority, the Department of Health and the Department of Education, the Department of Health has now been able to confirm that nursing support will be made available at each special school summer scheme site. This represents a workable solution that will enable special school summer schemes to be held this year. The overriding priority of everyone concerned remains the safety and well-being of children and young people, and EA will continue to work with special school principals to urgently prioritise planning for the summer schemes. Engagement will also continue on developing and embedding a robust and stable model for year-round health care provision for special schools."
