With the rise of black kids ending their lives, I'm still seeing black parents say "They're too young to even know about suicide" and "We were stronger than this in our day". We're no longer in YOUR day, and Generational trauma has caught up to these kids, it's time for change.

The silence, lack of mental health education, lack of acceptance that we go through mental health issues, thinking prayer is always the answer, and the wanting to always be strong minded, is literally Killing our black youth.

I hope the black community's eyes are starting to open at the growing suicide epidemic with our black youth. The Congressional Black Caucus (@OfficialCBC) is literally launching an emergency task force, to raise awareness and find out why, but to be honest with you I know why...

I let my daughter take a mental health day to spend with her auntie who is visiting. My mother would have NEVER EVER. She just text me and let me know what a great time she is having doing mani/pedis.

I think we are just talking and being open about it more. And I think because we are having more dialogue about it, it frees people to share their own stories. There’s been a stigma around it for so long people really didn’t use to talk about it. ~Jae #JustMyThoughts
