Hidden across three valleys in Cappadocia is Zelve, where hundreds of caves and rock-cut churches climb straight up the canyon walls. In this clip, filmed during our Seven Churches cruise -- @Joel7Richardson takes you inside one of the earliest cradles of Christian monastic life. Chapels and dwellings were carved into this rock as far back as the 4th–6th centuries, when the monastic movement was just beginning. Families went on living in these caves well into the 20th century. A path even winds up through the mountain to windows near the summit, one of the most mysterious vantage points in all of Turkey.

A Roman theater carved into a Turkish hillside, still facing the same horizon it faced when Hierapolis was alive with traders, healers, and the first Christians of the Lycus Valley. It has outlasted the empire that built it. Come see why this city earned its place on the Seven Churches journey. With Pastor Tim Remington, August 30 to September 8, 2026. livingpassages.com/cruise/turkey-…

I've been dreaming of visiting Heirapolos Pamukkale in Turkey since I was a kid. Pamukkale means "the Cotton Palace". This place is absolutely beyond extradorinary.

Are the letters authentic? The church declared them apocryphal centuries ago. But strip the legend away and Edessa's ancient faith still stands. Read the whole story in our new article: livingpassages.com/king-abgars-le…

Which kingdom was the first to follow Christ? Most would say Rome. The real answer may be a small Syriac kingdom most people have never heard of: Edessa. And it begins with a letter a dying king claimed to receive from Jesus himself. 🧵

Dawn over the valleys where early believers once took refuge in the caves. Our travelers caught the Cappadocia sunrise the only way that does it justice-- from a balloon basket, drifting over the valleys.

Why did Moses stand on that one point above Rephidim? So both sides of the battle could see his raised hands. Standing where Amalek attacked Israel, Ken Fish reads the terrain, and the infantry logic of the flanking move still holds. (See Exodus 17) You'll stand on this same ground on our Mount Sinai & Moses' Petra Tour this fall, Saudi Arabia & Jordan, with Dr. Abidan Shah teaching throughout. October 21 to 29, 2026. From $4,629 per person. livingpassages.com/tour/saudi-jor…

We took the group to Istanbul's Basilica Cistern today. It's a massive underground chamber from the 500s that was literally lost for centuries until fish started showing up in people's basements. This city is something else! 📍 Yerebatan Sarnıcı, Istanbul Join us on a future journey → livingpassages.com
