Unpopular book opinion - characters in books aren’t always written to make you, as a reader, like them. Seeing poor reviews of a book mainly because the ‘character was unlikeable’ sometimes rubs me the wrong way

what really bothers me about the use of the word slop in it's current context is that aside from normalizing fascistic language it is straight up lazy. people who employ it rarely explain why something is "slop." there's no analysis taking place to examine why a thing sucks
