🤫🧏♂️ developing an rts game, maybe it will be better than stormgate?

@Lizzergas Wow looks wicked! I have an idle RTS with ~1k and it starts struggling with Unity's sprite renderers, drawing/rendering takes up to 40% of the run cycle

Working on some optimizations. Still far away to go and networking is not tested yet.
Here we see 2000 vs. 2000 units, this theoretically would be 10vs10 in the late game with 30hz tick for deterministic lockstep. Looks kinda epic, but this is only stress test:)

@ThePrimeagen Raylib ftw! Making an RTS with it like StarCraft for APM machines like you:)
English

@BarrierXI depends what RTS you would make. You spent 3 years on Tribe Quest?
From what I see, it does look like your dream game to have it all:)
English

@Lizzergas I already spent 3 years developing my roguelike action survival game, inventories, crafting, items, perks, procgen levels... I'm wondering if a rts would have been easier😄
English

@BarrierXI Haha, good to hear. RTS are fun to develop, just... takes LOTS of time, since requirements are always so high :D
English

@Lizzergas Love seeing rts games being developed! Always makes me wanna make my own though... 😄
English

@holoswirls Raylib + C. Close to making my own game engine.
Using A*, local avoidance, steering.
Was thinking to go with navmesh + Delauney triangles, but that's too much complexity :D
English

@Lizzergas What are you working with, Unity, Godot? Multimesh in Godot was nice
English

@vicenzo_comp What impressed you about the game, that pulled your interest btw?
English

@vicenzo_comp Good question:)
Now I am running on Macbook M4,
But hoping it will be low to middle end requirements.
Mostly good CPU is needed
English

@babayagasantosk Haha, thanks bro. Planning to scale even more! Just so I would know the game is performant and can do some wacky game modes in the future! ^^
English

@admundil Mostly caching already computed paths and looking for blockers locally, instead of calculating the whole grid Grid cache can be reused. It's A* with local avoidance + steering
However, on launch and on first movement action, there is some lag, which I'll try to work on next:)
English

@LizzergasSG Would love to know which optimizations techniques you used because this look awesome 🤩
English

@joefdonoghue Cheers bro, Steam page coming soon, since these demos are getting some traction that I didn't expect ;o
English

@holoswirls Cheers bro. Hoping to get 20k units, but that probably won't happen :D
English

@LizzergasSG I found more than 1000 with any complexity is pretty difficult! looks cool.
English

@amavikaya4 I'll add it very soon! Got the name already for it, will stub out simple page. Thanks!
Follow me to get to know when it will be published:)
English

@kaangameaudio Labas, hit me up in the DMs, maybe we can think of something, or join Discord:)
English

@LizzergasSG Labas, this game looks great, I wanna be a part of it.
English

@LizzergasSG I like it, please prepare steam page asap, just because you're loosing potential wishlists with each post without call to action.
