High school teacher, mom, performance artist - I'm just now realizing those things have more in common with each other than I thought.

Let’s clarify a matter surrounding the mayor’s job killing Head Tax. The mayor’s public relations offensive is more about creating and controlling a narrative. In every public appearance, the mayor has tried to pose as a tireless fighter for the working class. Johnson is neither a hero nor a champion of the working class. In the mayor’s budget, not a single tax or fee proposed is tied to income. Furthermore, the school board, which is under control of mayoral appointees, has increased property taxes $426 million. Like every tax and fee increase in his budget, Johnson’s school board raising property taxes $426M is another burden on the working class. With nearly every proposed tax and fee falling on the working class, Johnson and his CTU allies are working tirelessly to portray him as fearlessly taking on “big corporations.” Don’t fall for the message Johnson is standing up for the working class. It’s a fraud. Johnson needs the Head Tax to dominate the headlines to shift attention away from taxing the working class.

Starbucks baristas have done everything right — organized, bargained, and stood together. But the CEO still refuses to offer a fair contract or end union busting. If baristas go on ULP strike, the response is DON’T BUY STARBUCKS. seiu.co/NoContract #NoContractNoCoffee

Mayor Brandon Johnson lit a fire in Chicago: it’s time for Americans to rise up in a general strike against the oligarchy. We will fund our schools, jobs, healthcare, and transit—not their greed. Democracy lives when we unite and take our fight to the streets. #FightOligarchy

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson calls for a general strike against the “tyranny” of Trump and the greed of the ultra-rich. An estimated 300,000 filled the streets for the “No Kings” march, powerfully rejecting the federal government’s “Operation Midway Blitz” against the city.
