Today, we give thanks to all who worked in the colliery, they came from Llay and many other villages around the Wrexham area. We remember the eighty one who died at Llay Main Colliery.

The colliery closed on 11 March 1966. It took six months to fill both shafts with 60,000 tons of mine waste.

Today marks the 57th anniversary of the closure of Llay Main Colliery. Completed in 1921, it was the last mine to be established in the southern part of the North Wales Coalfield.
