All the 16 times Shai Gilgeous-Alexander got fouled last night, in the 114-110 OT win against the Detroit Pistons. SGA went 21/25 (84.0%) from the free throw line (+another miss, but ref stopped the game prior - did not count) Including 4 fouls he committed (2 defensive fouls, two offensive), and one no call. Overall SGA finished with 47 points on 12/19 FG (63.2%), 2/3 from 3, 21/25 FT (84.0%), alongside 5 Rebounds (2 Off. Rebs), 5 Assists (4 TOV), 2 Steals, 4 PF, and a +/- of +8 in 40:32 minutes played. @muckledd @xstrap24 I still wouldn’t count the Lakers out with Luka on that team. Curious how the Spurs adjust if they spam high screens at Wemby. On paper, Lakers can’t handle Spurs guards, but it also depends on how Vassell/Champagnie shoot in the playoffs.

@xstrap24 I think Wemby is one of the few dominant regular season defenders whose defense actually becomes even more valuable in the playoffs (relatively) and I just don’t believe the competition (LAL, HOU, PHX, or LAC) is good enough to effectively expose the roster’s weaknesses

He’s good enough to make it into the play-in, but if you surround him with great teams, his ceiling wouldn’t be anywhere near as high as when you surround guys like Steph or Luka with a great team.

@spurs_four TBF, with Chet, I feel like it’s all mental, and Wemby somehow always takes his matchups with Chet really personally.

I don’t think yall realize how good Chet actually is, especially on defense lol. The Wemby comps have made him overly disrespected. Caleb Wilson will consider himself lucky if he’s as good as Chet early in his career.

His teams were some of the greatest defensive teams ever (’15, ’22), you can’t do that if you’re a liability playing huge minutes. Luka, although he has his defensive weaknesses, still has size and is a good post defender.

We watched Luka make it to the Finals with “no defense”, we seen Trae make it to the conference finals with “no defense”, we seen Steph win FOUR FINALS with “no defense.” The list goes on and on. They knew when drafting Trae that his defense wasn’t good. You draft him for his offense and then build around him. The did that and then everyone started getting injured. This “no defense” talk in 2026 is the dumbest shit. That proves that’s YOU need to learn ball.

@DiamanteAyo Unpopular opinion: I’d rather play Denver or Minnesota in the 2nd round. Luka is not someone you want to face in a playoff environment, and I think people are underestimating the Lakers a lot. They’ve been good since the ASB and it feels real unlike their late-season run last yr.

If I’m spurs I would like the first seed but at the second seed you can totally avoid the nuggets, wolves, okc until conference finals… we not ducking smoke , but it’s smart strategy to let the tougher opponents beat each other up before playing them.
