@Edelgard1162 When they happen and they are exceptions, that means they're weird and not normal. They're anomalies, hard to replicate, and prove that a rule exists for a reason, because most people can't just ignore it.

There is one quest with a large amount of gold. Keeping it essentially pisses off the city at large and makes them evil as fuck.

@SandyofCthulhu Issue: There is a whole ass module in 5e (2014) that rewards the players with a tavern they can fix up by level 2
The module becomes, ostensibly, about the events surounding this Tavern.
The issue is that none of the quests in the book give Gold in high enough quantity to do so.

One unmentioned advantage of NOT using gold for experience is that it gives the dungeon master additional tools.
Now gold, unconnected from XP, is a whole new type of reward. You can value gold for what gold is good for, and experience for what it is good for.

In AD&D 1e: - monsters don’t “drop gold”, some monsters hoard loot, and the corpses of former adventurers are a source - XP for gold is a solution to a gaming problem, e.g., how to handle character progression flexibly - animals have no loot - it emulates pulp stories

@crescendogames9 Dad had some fun stories, used little me as a prop in the local LARP scene, Then 5e came out and one of the FLGS in the area did a Try It Out Day.
A year later I was thrown into my first game as a DM and...
I have not left 5e 2014 since.

@HatingIsASport @Nintendeal @wariocolosseum The issue is that GKC is Digital with extra steps, a scummy subversion that allows companies to say "We have a Physical Product for those that want it" when said physical product has no Game.
I own Digital games. I understand the Risks inherent. My issue is with the Subversion.
