Here @LochsidePS ELC we have been busy celebrating COGmas2025. We have been learning about happy emotions, sad emotions using different Christmas stories and props. Look at our lovely gallery sharing the children’s thoughts & ideas about Christmas.

The Hive learners used The Snowman by Raymond Briggs to explore emotions and associated triggers, behaviours, and regulation strategies. A Hive learner is a successful learner. @EmotionWorksCIC #LochsidePS

One Cog at a Time -The Hive learners have concluded their deep dive into worry by exploring, blue cog, regulation strategies. A Little Spot of Worry by @imnotascribble Diane Alber was an excellent starting point. We are effective contributors. @EmotionWorksCIC #LochsidePS

One Cog at a Time. The Hive learners, continuing to explore worry, have looked at associated behaviours. We used Dan Santat’s book, After the Fall, as a stimulus. Creating effective contributors. @EmotionWorksCIC @dsantat

Circle Time in The Hive always starts with an emotional check in. Recently, our focus has been to recognise and discuss body sensations. Today, we had butterflies, heavy eyes, and a full heart. Creating successful learners. @EmotionWorksCIC @LochsidePS

Our UNCRC Learning journey: Article 31 - the right to take part in artistic and cultural activities. Bonfire Night has been the inspiration for lots of artwork and creative writing. A Lochside learner is a successful learner. @UNICEF_uk @LochsidePS

As part of their UNCRC learning, P3-7 have learnt about the ABCDE of Rights. It is important that we know rights are for All, from Birth, Cannot be taken away, Do not have to be earned, and are all Equally important. A Lochside learner is a successful learner. @UNICEF_uk

UNCRC Article 31 states that children have the right to play, relax, and take part in artistic and cultural activities. To support learners to access this right, Lochside hosted a Hallowe'en disco. Great fun was had by all. We are confident individuals. @UNICEF_uk @jencprice

P3-7 and The Hidden Chimp. Habits 8 and 9 - sharing, and sharing our feelings. These regulation strategies make you feel good by helping others to feel good, and by expressing feelings we feel better about ourselves too. Effective contributors. @EmotionWorksCIC @LochsidePS

P3-7 and My Hidden Chimp. Habit 7: When we are told "No!" we feel lots of different emotions, especially frustration, but by accepting it and moving on our chimp is kept happier and calmer, meaning we can stay in the green zone of emotions. Successful learners @EmotionWorksCIC

P3-7 Assembly. We are continuing to learn more strategies that help to manage our hidden chimp. Habit 6 is trying new things. This might make us feel nervous or anxious but, when we try new things we get a real sense of achievement. A Lochside learner is a confident individual.

Lochside learners packed 3 shoeboxes for the Blythswood Shoebox appeal. This learning is linked to our learners becoming responsible citizens by supporting other children to have Article 31 respected. In Lochside the C stands for caring. @BlythswoodCare @UNICEF_uk @jencprice

P3-7 assembly learnt that, in the UK, October is Black History Month. Learning about non-discrimination, and the history and culture of a minority group allowed us to explore Articles 2 and 30 in more detail. Successful learners. @UNICEF_uk @jencprice

This term, The Hive learners will be exploring worry. As an introduction, we ready Ruby’s Worry by Tom Percival and then used our orange coglifying glass to take a closer look at other worry words. @EmotionWorksCIC Effective Contributors. @LochsidePS
