I've really tried to stop saying "they" in recent years.
If I can't articulate names or orgs, I shouldn't be making the claim.
I've found "they" is an initiative code word to signal that we're now using a different dictionary, in the same way Woke do it.

They’ve built an entire infrastructure designed to make their victories permanent — training the candidates, funding the organizing, writing the laws, and turning government into a self-reinforcing machine that slowly sidelines the very citizens it was meant to serve.
That’s not democracy. That’s replacement.
