The President chose to put our nation at war with Iran without clear objectives or an exit strategy. It’s costing taxpayers tens of billions of dollars and North Carolinians far too much at the pump. His recent threats to Iran are beyond the pale, repugnant, and un-American, and they risk dramatic escalation. I continue to pray for our troops and their families who sacrifice so much to keep us safe.

We need to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove Trump. Threatening war crimes is a blatant violation of our constitution and the Geneva Conventions.

I know this isn’t the main story or key point today but remember that billions of dollars are being effortlessly expended today bombing a country, which Americans don’t support and no US lawmaker voted for. Remember that next time they tell you there is no money for healthcare.

And the collaborators wing of the “opposition party” delayed @RoKhanna’s war powers vote just long enough to let Trump start his illegal war. Sickening.

I am learning how many of you hate half of the country so desperately that you're willing to rip up everything this country is supposed to stand for if it can bring misery to people you see as your internal enemies. Don't tread on me. Tread on her!

The General Assembly should be rushing to fully fund Medicaid and pay teachers and law enforcement what they’re worth. Instead, they’re rushing to take away your power as a voter.

A lot of the discussion about Republicans' latest round of partisan gerrymandering in North Carolina is missing some basic information. So we're here to help. Here are the Top 4 Things You Need to Know to have an informed opinion on this issue. #1: Republicans completely control North Carolina's state legislature, and have for 14 years running. Republicans have held either majority or supermajority control of both chambers of NC's state legislature since 2011. They have done so by rigging our election maps so that it's effectively impossible to lose. Every single law, budget, school funding formula, you name it in North Carolina - every one in the last 14 was written and passed by Republicans, not Democrats. #2: Republicans (who are not Democrats) drew North Carolina's existing Congressional and legislative maps today. Republicans also drew every single Congressional and election map in the 2010s, too. No Democratic lawmaker in North Carolina has drawn any election map, whatsoever, since 2003. Love or hate our Governor, he has no role to play in redistricting in North Carolina. Doesn't get a veto. It's entirely our legislature. #3: North Carolina's State Supreme Court is pro-gerrymandering. Our State Supreme Court has a 5-2 Republican majority, and it has approved partisan gerrymandering by our Republican state legislature. That's why we have it. #4: Drawing "fair" districts is harder than it looks. There's a fundamental tradeoff between having lots of straight lines/90-degree angles in an election map, and its representational value. If Congress is meant to be the voice of We The People in our government, and you value competitive elections where voters can meaningfully choose between different political leaders based on their actions in office, then you might prefer a more representative map. On the other hand, if you think political parties should be entitled to use any means whatsoever to advance their agenda, the voters' will be damned, you might prefer a map that maximizes political party power. This is why operating within a fair, rules-based structure is good for everyone. Whichever you prefer, just remember that your political opponents will be happy to use those choices against you when they have the same opportunity - as they eventually will.

Republican leadership just released their plan to redraw North Carolina’s Congressional maps. They are shamefully abusing their power to take away yours. Public comment period is open. Let them know what you think⬇️

State legislators in high data center use states need to wake up and do something about this Why should we be paying sky high power bills for Sam Altmans AI slop video generator
Derek Thompson@DKThomp

Data centers and AI are gobbling up electricity, but the share differs significantly by state. Between 2010 and 2025, data centers went from less than 5% to roughly 40% of Virginia's electricity consumption. Sweet jesus.

The problem the right apparently doesn’t recognize is that yall were elected to get grocery prices down, to get rent down, and get mortgage rates down. Instead you’re sending electric bills through the roof, fueling inflation, and you’ve made home construction insanely more expensive through both tariffs and immigration policy. Oh and health care costs are soaring. So people are significantly worse off in the ways that matter since you were elected. And from the outside, all it looks like you care about doing is going after comedians who offend you and dictating what people can say and arming Israel to the teeth so it can keep committing a genocide people thought you would stop, and nobody can understand why it’s still happening. So as the economy gets worse and worse, you’ll look more and more out of touch for spending all your time trying to censor speech and defend Israel. But go ahead, get The View canceled. That’ll help!

I’ve helped @BernieSanders for years pulling together his political events. Today is a first in many ways. We had two different large overflow crowds in Iowa City. One of those overflows was so large that it was bigger than the original theater he came to speak at.

Trump 2.0's philosophy is: "things are bad, let's make them worse." Since the financial system is gamed by insiders, let’s go full open scam. Since money has infected politics, let’s just take open bribes. Since the government has let you down, let's burn down the parts that still deliver for people.

Crazy to see how many people get more upset over a DNC staffer doing a land acknowledgment then the world’s richest man taking our money, stealing our social security numbers, making himself King and trying to put chips in our heads.
