The philosophy of Heidegger both can and should properly be interpreted in a way consistent with the verification principle. Heidegger had no ontological commitment that violated that principle. For Heidegger, metaphysics meant rich description of the primordial structures (‘existentialia’) of Dasein : human experience.

For historical reasons, phenomenology did not want to admit how empiricist it is, and analytic logic did not want to admit how transcendental it is. Propositions of phenomenology, even the notorious ‘the nothing nothings’ can be translated into explicitly meaningful form, just as explicitly meaningful sentences can be infused with poetry.
