Suppose 10,000 monkeys take NEET-PG exam (or one persistent monkey takes it 10,000 times). There are 200 questions. The reward for correct answer is 4 and the penalty for wrong answer is -1. If the monkeys don't attempt, they get 0 marks. Let's assume the monkeys haven't qualified MBBS and randomly mark all 200 questions. Expected value of a random guess = (probability correct × reward) + (probability wrong × penalty) = (1/4)(+4) + (3/4)(-1) = 1 + -0.75 = +0.25 So what will be the group average of this monkey group ? If we simulate that, we get an average mark of +50. (see pic for distribution, done with R) Sure, many monkeys will score negative marks, but the group average is still positive. Now let's turn to human NEET -PG doctor with -40 marks. Government says he/she's competent. If a doctor can't even beat the average score of a bunch of monkeys, does it matter if they are "competent" because government says so? Forget MD/ MS, why shouldn't their MBBS be declared null and void ?

January 2020: My girlfriend (now ex) called me from Puducherry, half drunk, to break up with me. I had shifted less than a month back to Delhi to prepare for AIIMS PG entrance after getting a meagre 13k rank in December's NEET PG. I still remember sitting on my desk - thinking about my next steps... Blocked her... Uninstalled WhatsApp and Chrome from my phone... Spent 5 months without being on any of my WhatsApp groups or social media. When the results came, I had < AIR 15 in all entrances. I reinstalled all apps and SM profiles. Did I lose my college friends? No. Did my life change because of those 5 months? Absolutely yes! Even today - when I have to focus on a problem, I remove all apps from my phone and go MIA for the weekend - Download all papers and print them out to try looking for transferable patterns to medicine, and after I have decided on a direction, get back on SM! Social Media is a distraction - If you have larger goals in life where you need to focus, you need to do away with it (at least temporarily) - IT IS ALWAYS WORTH IT!

Bhiwani Medical college , Haryana. Visited today. Five to seven policemen at the gate. Every vehicle logged. Strict entry checks. Meanwhile, there are not enough demonstrators or teachers/ professors in Physiology, Anatomy, and Biochemistry. Classes started last year, yet core academic gaps remain. I am struggling to understand the logic. What is the purpose of making policemen stand under the open sky in chilly weather, while essential departments inside lack manpower? Why is governance so visible on the roads, in red/ blue light cars, but missing where it is needed the most? Control without direction is not administration.
