Understood. But then you always had a soft spot for the Nazis and were even in cahoots with the Abwehr, German military intelligence, in 1938/39 as World War Two approached.

We’ve been dealing with occupying imperialists for 8 centuries. So yes, we’re not fans of Israel.

@andrw100 @afneil @MailOnline What's the evidence that Net Zero will be more economically damaging to China and India than climate change?
English

@LonWon @afneil @MailOnline Yes it could, they won’t. It would be too costly & economically damaging. More damaging than climate change.

@andrw100 @afneil @MailOnline If China and India pursued Net Zero too, would that make a measurable difference?

Climate catastrophism nonsense. Climate change is real and we need to respond. But this is just scare-mongering and much of it has already been discredited.

Andrew Neil has had enough of experts.
Common sense tells him that the climate crisis is a scam and that there's no issue with extracting as much gas, oil and coal as we want.

There are no plans for a massive expansion of pumped storage because unlike, say, Sweden, we don’t have the topography for it. Yes we could have some more pumped storage. But it would take an age before it came online and it would be marginal to requirements. Why do so many energy pundits live in a fantasy world? They jeopardise the wellbeing of millions.

@AaronBastani What's your argument for mayors over councils?
That mayors are more dynamic and accountable than councils? Not sure I'm convinced by that. Either model can be dynamic and accountable; either can be sclerotic and high-handed.
Does one model tend to be better?

Wrote about it here. These places need more resources for infrastructure, more local tax powers, mayors and planning deregulation. /2

Another outstanding @jburnmurdoch column this weekend.
The U.K. is now the *only G7 economy* where the best jobs are still becoming more concentrated in the dominant region.
The country succeeds if these places succeed. It fails if they fail. /1

Notice how Neil attempts to deflect by focusing on the UK (rather than globally) and by focusing on the present (rather than over time).
He will then exclude the billions of benefits to the fossil fuel industry from not having to deal with the consequences of their business.
Andrew Neil@afneil
Pray tell — what subsidies does UK dole out to fossil fuel industries?
