Good Friday and at first light, Old Fox walked to the Sheep church up on the Downs. It was dark inside, lit by a single oil lamp, the altars stripped and scoured with hyssop, & deserted but for an elderly hare in the front pew. He was wiping tears away. It's all so hard, he said. I know, said Old Fox & went to sit with him.

Goodnight from High Barley village school, its resident ghost turning to the solace of minor vandalism during its Easter Holiday loneliness. Goodnight from Rosalind Tarver, gone to tell the trees of Bamberbury Wood all the shadowed secrets of her heart. Goodnight from Hookland.

Snare Wednesday and Old Fox was pegging his sheets in the warm spring sun. The lines stretched from tree to tree in the orchard & as he worked he thought about Judas & how terrible & how necessary & how desperately lonely he was.

Never mind April Fools' Day - Welsh folklore warns us to beware April Fools' Month… which could even become April Fools' Year: "If you are made a fool in April, you will be a fool or get befooled all through the year." (Folklore of Wales, 1909) #AprilFoolsDay #AprilFools

On April Fools' Day 1957, the BBC pulled off one of the greatest hoaxes in television history, a news segment about Switzerland’s annual "spaghetti harvest."

Goodnight from Ellie Bracken, praying for kind angels to watch her walk home from shelf-stacking shift. Goodnight from PC Danning, bemused at being called out to reports of a silver-suited spaceman bothering the all-night Phoenix garage at Bickbury again. Goodnight from Hookland.

"Dear Mother, I am writing these few lines severely wounded. We have done well, our battalion advanced about 3/4's of a mile. I am laid in a shell hole, with 2 wounds in my hip and through my back. I cannot move or crawl at all. I have been here for 24 hours and never seen a living soul. I hope you will receive these few lines as I don't expect anyone will come to take me away. But you know I have done my duty our here now for 1 year and 8 months and you will always have the consolation that I died quite happy doing my duty. You must give my best to all the cousins who have been so kind to me for the time I have been out here, and the best of love to Mother and Harry and all at Swinefleet." - A note from Private John Duesbury that was found on his body after the Battle of the Somme (WW1). What a waste.

Favourite writer Natalia Ginzburg lived in this house in South Kensington and wrote her wonderful novel FAMILY LEXICON here in 1959/60, which I strongly recommend to my readers. Today I made the lone pilgrimage to 13 South Terrace, SW7 2TB.

Windsor chairs in the sunlight. Millions of people pass these chairs every day without a thought, but stop and look at them. The wood that has been steamed and bent into the perfect shape to create the back and the arms. The spindles, each beautifully and perfectly made. The seat with contours for your bottom, carved with an adze. You try making one of these and you’ll soon realise what magnificent things they are.

#FairyTaleTuesday Parabola magazine 1979 attempts to unravel the mystery of the universal conjuror known as 'The Trickster.' As old as time, the Trickster obfuscates paranormal & psychic phenomena, creating confusion like a cosmic gatekeeper of those secrets humankind can never know.

Apparently 12 tons of @KITKAT have gone missing in transit between Italy and Poland… and suddenly everyone’s looking at the one innocent kitty kat having a quiet lie down. Unbelievable profiling, quite frankly. 🐾🍫 *check the FC’s handbag
