@s8mb @VintageMrHobbes Thousands of DEI grifters (especially those on the taxpayer’s dime) are a result of the wrong kind of growth unfairly shared.
Yet this is some the growth we’ve had, no doubt cheered on by the Bennett School of Public Policy.

@NewtonEmerson Rare occasion where the government would have been perfectly justified in passing retrospectively-acting legislation.
English

It's horrific how much of this is downstream of the idiotic Supreme Court ruling on 'equal pay'.

This is a brilliant - bleak - piece about the broken local politics of Birmingham. First class on the ground reporting by @alexrogerssky @JoshGafson1 These pieces aren’t easy - you only get footage like this with skill, graft and luck - please watch:

@birch_js @arinaariri Yes, I’m constantly in awe of how much he knew about the subject and how he made it approachable.
English

@LonghoC @arinaariri Even if there's an easier mnemonic available, I like learning things the Henshall way as it helps build up a system that gives you a fighting chance when encountering new, unknown characters.
English

@masayosison @arinaariri Mine is much worse, so I’ll forgive Henshall ;-)
English

@LonghoC @arinaariri The handwriting looks horrible. 泳 will not get a pass in elementary school for not leaving a space

@searelv Yes, it‘s A Guide to Remembering the Kanji, not easily available but you can get hold of it from various places, e.g. ebay.co.uk/itm/1439141194…

@VintageMrHobbes Who would be young again today, with everything that they have to cope with?
English

@dean_lister97 Well since I’m as queer as billy goat’s gruff, she’d have been — how shall we say? — barking up the wrong tree. And the women who work in maid cafes are pushing back thirty so hard, their hands are turning blue.
Do you see young girls in every photo you look at, then?
English

@dean_lister97 @HumbleChavPunk @wwrl_lewis @AmateurishRL Brave words from someone who wears a Temu curb chain.
English

@HumbleChavPunk @wwrl_lewis @AmateurishRL youd say none of this to my face hagrid so leg it ya sweaty smelly little emo nonce

Boys. You mean boys. Boys have been given until 6 September to leave the Girl Guides. Boys. Boys, boys, boys, boys, boys

@helenlewis Shunned and cancelled by all the right people (which just made me love it all the more), pre-Millennial Feminist Fay Weldon deliciously skewered all of these nonsense-spouters in her novel Death of a She Devil.
English

@AspireTechno @TorstenBell Anyone who won't let their arguments be scrutinised knows their arguments won't hold up to any scrutiny.
English

Why does @TorstenBell restrict replies on his asinine statements. If you really believed in your position you would let it be subject to scrutiny, but you turn off replies.

I've seen lots of headlines about the jobs market in the UK. Here's the truth 👇

@Osinttechnical @grok is the video in the original post real footage?
English

@NewtonEmerson I’m certainly on my 6th fuel crisis at the very least.

Remembering the 1970s is a super-power.
I'm not switching the immersion off until that line hits $150.

@VintageMrHobbes They do some very odd things there. It’s sufficiently similar to the old country but then they throw a curveball at you, just to keep you off balance.
English

@CarlJWhyte @NewtonEmerson Exactly.
Works fine for the top end of the market. As soon as the potential buyer pool is reduced to those who are highly price-sensitive, or the area doesn’t support high value properties (ironically, the areas most in need of better housing), it all goes tits up.
English

@NewtonEmerson Doubt it. Basically a new homes water levy. Might work in areas of high demand/price where cost can be passed on to buyers but they’re largely developed.
English

Voluntary developer contribution - a cute move, likely to end up as the de facto standard.
Department for Infrastructure@deptinfra
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced the introduction of a new developer contributions scheme for wastewater infrastructure. More: infrastructure-ni.gov.uk/news/kimmins-v…
English

@NewtonEmerson Possibly, although not proven and there’s a list of drawbacks as long as your arm to this sort of scheme (like trying to hang wallpaper, everyone’s had a go at it, but the results are very erratic).

@LonghoC That's one form of trickle down economics that's been shown to work.
