I think it’s safe for me to say that “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (2026)” was doomed from the very start and it ended up being a disaster of a movie. Every new piece of information of the production for this movie gets revealed recently, the more worse the movie itself gets that it’s hard to defend or love it and the more you understand the slander that this movie is getting is valid. The fact that it was confirmed that they INTENTIONALLY made the movie fast paced so kids wouldn’t get bored really just shows that they gave no shits about storytelling or character development meaning they learned absolutely NOTHING from the first movie. I’m sorry but even with its gorgeous visuals, amazing soundtrack, neat references and some fun moments but overall this movie is a huge wasted potential and such a disappointment that it’s kinda frustrating especially when there are a lot of elements that are an improvement in this film and yet the first movie is still a better Mario movie because it had an actual story to tell and that really says a lot about this sequel, there were so many amazing ideas that had a lot of potential to be something great but most of them were executed poorly, easily one of the most disappointing movies of 2026.

It’s a real testament to how good Brian Tyler’s movie-original themes are in the Mario movies that one of my favorite OST moments in the Galaxy Movie was the grand rendition of Peach’s theme overlayed with Mario & Luigi’s theme
