@alkomaar @d1nt @Kamilk32PA Еще были два поражения от Локомотива и Торпедо близко друг к другу, но это уже совсем не то :)
Русский

@alkomaar @d1nt @Kamilk32PA Еще "почти":

@FloridaManV @whatwasthataga4 It was Spielmann who said that.
"Give me any of Alekhine's positions, and I will win it. But I only get drawn positions even when I start out with the King's Gambit!"
English

@whatwasthataga4 It's pretty.
As the brilliant American Frank Marshall said about his even more brilliant rival:
"I can see the combinations as well as Alekhine, but I cannot get to the same positions."

@gmmds @TUUR1 @dgriffinchess I stumbled upon it accidentally in 2022, and what a lucky stumble it was
English

@LoonySpectre @TUUR1 @dgriffinchess Wow! I had no idea! I sometimes use the British newspaper archive but didn’t know this existed! Thanks!

On this day in 1964 - a simultaneous display in Groningen by Mikhail Botvinnik, held during the 'Niemeyer' tournament, which later became the official European Junior (U20) Championship.
Among the ex-World Champion's opponents was Robert Hübner.

@gmmds @TUUR1 @dgriffinchess Delpher is a heaven for researchers, if you have at least a basic grasp of Dutch
English

@gmmds @TUUR1 @dgriffinchess The caption from De Volkskrant seems to be wrong - Botvinnik was making his move against Scholl, and Harris was sitting to Scholl's left, deep in thought
English

@gmmds @TUUR1 @dgriffinchess Another, better picture of Ronald Harris opposite Botvinnik, from Nieuwe Provinciale Groninger Courant (with Botvinnik about to make his first move)
