Big changes afoot in the Pacific. The past month of WWB activity has pushed a great amount of warm water to the dateline, and the +PMM continues to intensify. We'll soon have the powerful warm pool surface, and by the end of the month may have a solid El Nino signature

The amount of fighter jets in the sky right now is actually absurd. I’m assuming it’s due to some sort of exercise but sheesh this is the most I’ve heard in a while

We are honestly lucky that today busted tornado wise. Just with the limited instability, it is possible that we had 5 tornadoes happen. Still have to watch for tornadoes later along the squall line, as that should pass during the evening - night hours.

There may have been as many as 5 tornadoes already today. #1 Was south of Poolesville. A tight velocity couplet was collocated with debris signature so we know a tornado occurred there.

Our maximal threat region is likely to experience some sort of QLCS in association with our cold front, and may additionally see prefrontal convection (supercells) that fires along our leeside trough. Regardless of how exactly this evolves, the low-level parameter space...(1/3)

I have a feeling they are going to go moderate which I agree with. I say this because the outlook is delayed.

⚠️⛈️ SEVERE WEATHER OUTBREAK LOOKING LIKELY MONDAY AFTERNOON & EVENING: Confidence is increasing in significant severe thunderstorms on Monday. Much of the region is in a Level 3 out of 5 Risk per the latest outlook. Something to note is that the Storm Prediction Center has mentioned that an upgrade to a rare Level 4 out of 5 (Moderate) Risk may be needed for portions of the region in upcoming outlooks. The last Level 4 out of 5 Risk for DC was back in 2023. These types of setups rarely happen here locally. If we do see a Level 4/5 Moderate Risk issued tomorrow, it would be the first Day 2 Moderate Risk ever in the DC area. Damaging winds and some tornadoes are the primary threat. The current forecast is for widespread damaging, potentially destructive winds. Additionally, we cannot rule out the possibility of strong tornadoes. This would likely result in widespread downed trees & branches as well as power outages. Now is the time to focus on the forecast and stay aware. It would also be great to spend the weekend going over safety plans in case severe weather directly impacts you on Monday. We will continue to monitor the latest and provide updates. #vawx #mdwx #dcwx #wvwx

Monday's severe weather threat from the DC area to the Carolinas is one of the higher end setups I've seen for the region. The threat is driven in the warm sector of the intense mid-latitude cyclone bringing 2-3 FEET of snow to the Upper Midwest. Intense, veering...(1/3)
